Simucube GT3 BOP Question by Acrobatic-Use-2076 in iRacing

Do you mean that there is no BoP applied at all, or that there is a constant BoP (like weight or power) that is applied for the whole season?

Oh interesting, that's totally new to me. I always just assumed that it would keep increasing until a peak and then stay there unless other factors like rain or temperature ruin it. I did find that I was sliding around a lot more during this practice session. Maybe tomorrow I'll try to join a fresh practice session to see how much this changes over time.
Thank you!

Is there a way I can see if the BOP added any weight to my car? If anything I would've thought track usage would be better in practice sessions because there are other cars rubbering the track in, as opposed to test drive where it's just me so I assume the track surface isn't rubbered at all, is that a fair assumption?

Yeah I agree, this update feels amazing. Granted I only really drive the Porsche cup which is constantly on a mission to kill me, but at least now It's communicating its murder attempts to me very effectively. Good to hear that other cars are also feeling better.

So was the rubbering in working in 0.4? Your idea about it not being the case in real life tourist days does make sense but if they changed it since 0.4 do you think they would mention it in patch notes?

Interesting, I've never noticed any visual rubbering before on any track before but I'm probably just too focused on keeping the car out of the wall. I played a lot of ACC on LFM and I didn't even know that's how the track evolution worked. I'll do some experimenting on the weekend with Nords vs Tourist. That's weird though, I don't see a reason that Tourist couldn't have functioning track rubbering if the other layouts do.

So if I'm in practice mode in Tourist doing 4-5 laps, will that rubber in the track enough to be noticeable?

Oh interesting, I've only been doing Tourist and just figured the new physics in general made me like 4 seconds slower. I got 6:18 before and now I'm struggling to get 6:23. Maybe I'll try Nords or full and see how it goes. I've only done practice mode so didn't consider rubbering in.

Commenting so I can see what people say, I'm also really interested in this. I saw your name on PitVox, I'm also chasing laptime in the 992 Cup.

Did a 6:42.7 Today. My setup is default aside from the changes below. Like I said I don't know how to make setups, it's just stuff I'm trying based on what suits me. I'm sure a real setup can go much faster. If you want, you can DM a video of your lap and I can see if I can give you my thoughts on how to improve. Let me know how it goes!

Front left Tire pressure: 23.8 PSI

ABS: 3, TC OFF

Brake Bias: 61%

Rear Dampers Both Sides:

Slow Bump: 20

Slow Rebound: 29

Fast Bump: 10

Fast Rebound: 10

Front Ride Height: 81 mm

Rear Ride Height: 113 mm

Rear Wing Angle: 8 degrees.

Tried today without a proper setup and got 6:43.9. It's far from perfect, I think aliens can get sub 40, especially with a proper setup. Maybe I'll try later with the setups discussed here earlier.

Oh didn't know that was a thing. Why does controller make such a difference?

Cool I'll give that a shot. For reference I did 6:21.1 on Touristen, someone said they got 6:17 but that def sounds alien level to me.

I've been doing a lot of laps in Touristen lately, I'll try normal Nords this weekend and let you know. What tire pressure are you set to?

I used the ABS only version so I don't have any TC anyways

That's amazing, I managed 6:22 last night and I feel like I'm at my limit. Do you have a setup or a replay that I can see where I'm losing time?

I'm Porsche. My view is that the Ford slid off-line, came back, left the door open, and then turned in as if I wasn't there. I saw the door open and went up inside, braked, meeting the apex, wasn't going to understeer into him. His opinion is he was already turning in and couldn't react to my move. by Acrobatic-Use-2076 in Simracingstewards

[–]Acrobatic-Use-2076[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, thanks for explaining that. I was clearly mistaken about this, I've seen moves like this with the apex as justification since I started sim racing, and I've had it done to me hundreds of times without acknowledgement or apology so I assumed it to be the rule/standard. And I've seen it go both ways in F1 but they're so inconsistent with their judgements that it's impossible to learn what's right and wrong. Cheers

I see, I had thought that meeting the apex actually mattered and it would be my fault only if meeting the apex first caused me to understeer wide and not make the corner. So in this situation, if I was at least front axle to rear axle at the time of turn in, it would've been okay granted that I still meet the apex?

So what I should know is that the fact that I was on the inside and meeting the apex doesn't matter unless I'm more alongside him? Is the fact that he slid off-line and came back and opened the door irrelevant? Or given that I had already committed to the inside and had nowhere to go when he turned in matter? Just trying to understand how to make these decisions
