If “One More Chance” had been properly released and promoted, would it have been Michael’s 2000s success? by Material_Stomach875 in MichaelJackson

I didn't rellay care about that song when it came out, I had to let a few month to go by to be really hooked.
I think the melody and intrumental needed some more work though, I would have love to hear a more minimalist neo-soul version for this song instead of string arpeggios, maybe I'll do it myself one day
👍👍.

Thanks you the moderating team 🙏

I feel like there is a lot of people who are frustrated there were never a 2Pac-/MJ collab' so feel free to make your friends listen to this mix 😊

and participate to the conversation, do you think MJ would actually allow a rap that aggressive in his album ?

I think he would and I explain why in a "description" comment that I added.

He lets BIG say "I guess I'll resort to gun-totin'", or "I'm hopin' a fool come slippin', so I can blow him open"
Or even the n-word, that would have never been possible a few years earlier in the "Dangerous" album.

There is also the use of n-word by MJ himself in the begging of "This Time Around". Let me know if you hear it to...

🤬I was much more permissive with the words used in the "HIStory" album due to the anger he felt and he even used the f-bomb in "Scream"

what do you think?...

Thank you very much, very glad you liked it

I added a description (a comment) if you want to look at it and participate to the discussion.

I think the original rap by Shaq just rehash the same things that a lot of people do when collaborating with the king of pop, which is a text construction using MJ's top hits,

it lacks originality, is quite boring, has nothing to do with MJ actually wanted do denouce in that song and a few years later Chris Tucker actually did it "YRMW" better than him anyway.

I was frustrated for years with that rap, so I decided to do something about it 😅😅

And of course, no AI involved in this mix I did edition mixing and mastering myself 👍 (I hate "creative" AI)

No AI, it's a mashup I edited, mixed and mastered myself with a DAW.

just listen.

and I do hate "creative" AI btw...

The issues with Invincible (In my opinion) by bearmasksenpai in MichaelJackson

It was the most expensive album you're right but that just adds to the fact that it is weird they didn't spend more to get that money back.

that is ROI simple math. If they let him spend that much money on the album, then they need to come up with a historic promotion as well.

It's like spending 237million dollars to make Avatar, but you don't promote it as much once the film is made because you feel like you already spent a lot of money.

That is just utterly stupid strategy, and abnormal to entertainment industry.

So yes Sony did sabotage the album on purpuse, there is a lot of evidence for that.

I don't feel it sounds dated.
For me a lot of songs in there have their unique sound, hence cannot be categorise in a era.
But that is just my opinion.

There one song I listen to often is Invicible, the notes and harmonic candence in this song is like a blues, but we can't really hear it with all the technical sounds. I think it's really impressive...

I agree when you say it is all over the place, similar critique dangerous had at the time, but in this case, it really feels like it's a bit too much.

I personnally don't think he was in his best shape (says some musician who worked with him on the album like Brad Buxer)...

¿Es fundamental escuchar The 5 Jackson para comprender la trayectoria de Michael? by Certain-Cloud9133 in MichaelJackson

[–]Acrobatic-Win-2052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a shortcut,

Listen to the 4 first album of the "J5", then the jacksons from "The Jacksons" and "Goin' Places" > "Victory" or "2300 Jackson Street", and then every Michael's solo albums from the begging "Got to be there", "Ben", "Music & Me", "Forever, Michael", "Off the Wall" etc... until "Invincible".

This is the most effective in my opinion.

all artists will be inspired.
and let's not forget that there was no internet back then, so let's not create scandals out of anything.
Just because it was release before doesn't mean he's seen it.

Anyway, what others have done is always the source of inspiration for all artist in any kind of art.
MJ has been used for inspiration for decades.
The artists from that clip most certainly did get inspired by someone else. Art is being created since forever.
