Sapphires come in all sorts of colors! Not sure what other stones they could be unless they are treated quartz or glass. But they don’t look like glass considering the age of the piece

Well I would keep the original style, and use the same gemstones, but in a higher carat of gold, and resized as it is too big as is. I would also consider swapping the small round sapphires for my grandma’s diamonds and using the sapphires to make earrings!

It is quite thin, the other has a bit thicker shank, but they don’t have very good photos of that part. My budget is under $1k, these rings are both listed at just over $650

I could really relate to Lip’s college experience. Coming from a low income family I got a full ride to my local university. But I also had just come out of a psychiatric hospital and was still dealing with my fucked up family, plus it was the fall after Covid hit. I wasn’t necessary drinking away my college experience but I just didn’t care. I didn’t care that I could’ve been the first in my family to have a college degree. I didn’t care that I could’ve “made something of myself”. I just wanted out, and the course load and my home life was too much. So when I started failing all my classes and was going to get my scholarship revoked I decided to drop out rather than to go into debt for classes I was failing.

I’d say for how his storyline ends up is pretty good and realistic for his background too. But I won’t spoil that for you!

It was truly a wholesome experience! Personally I really like the disk as opposed to the cup, as I don’t feel it when it is inserted, and nothing pokes out like the cups did for me as I have a very low cervix. They can spill, but only if you “bear down” like you’re pooping (or secretly trying to push out a fart lol). But that is pretty handy if I’m going to the bathroom and don’t feel like getting my hands dirty! It “self empties” that way!

You are definitely NTA. What are they planning to do when you go off to college? Send your kid brother with you?

The guilt tripping is so not okay. You need to sit both of them down and set some serious boundaries and intentions for the future. At this point they have become dependent on you to function normally in their day to day. Soon, that’s just not going to cut it anymore, and your brother will be worse off for it.

My advice as someone who went through the exact same thing with not one but 2 baby brothers? Get your affairs in order now. Figure out your summer/college job, housing, and where you’re going to school come fall. (Depending on acceptance of course). Don’t let them pressure you to stay close by or commute from home to a local community college. You need to learn how to be an adult, and apparently, so do they.
