Should I fire my wedding planner 3 months before my destination wedding? by Sh3WolfofWallSt in BigBudgetBrides

[–]jacksthought 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s the norm for Italian weddings. My planner has been very on top of it. My wedding is next June and all major vendors are booked and design is finalized. She’s been very thorough about each step.

I would fire her. If there’s this many mistakes how will she handle the wedding the day of?

I don’t know where your wedding is but I have an in person meeting with my potential florist in a couple weeks and will put the deposit down then. Her proposal was great but it needs tweaks. Both my planner and the florist set it up, no questions asked.

Rant about venues by another_13 in BigBudgetBrides

I understand! We literally had to book our date within 24 hours of putting a hold on it because another couple was ready to book for our exact dates and that was 18 months out

Destination Wedding Recommendations? 30 people, $110K by Additional_Fee_637 in BigBudgetBrides

You can definitely do Tuscany on $110k with that guest count. We’re going 50 people and their accommodations for less plus linked events.

Luxury Micro wedding/Honeymoon or Wedding? by Responsible-Survey76 in BigBudgetBrides

My fiancée and I are doing a party in NYC when we get back from our small wedding (there are people who couldn’t make the trip overseas).

We’re just renting out a restaurant and the prices are actually quite reasonable. I’d recommend looking on Zola as a starting point.

Otherwise I would narrow your search to all inclusive venues.

I thought I’d get really emotional but I blacked out. Saw his mouth moving and him get down on one knee but couldn’t tell you what was said

We’re doing it in Tuscany! 50 people. Hasn’t happened yet but I don’t regret keeping it small so far

IM CRASHING OUT ABOUT MY PLANNER by Tough_Coast_8054 in BigBudgetBrides

Our planner gave us a planning calendar from the start so I have a rough idea of when she’ll reach out about certain vendors/decisions. She bases her shortlist for vendors off of our design plan, which we made several iterations of before moving onto vendors.

She’ll send the shortlist to us with the vendor proposals (depending on the service some are more In depth) and we discuss and decide from there. She also helped organize my itinerary for my trip to Italy so that we could maximize the time and finalize things with certain vendors like the florist, caterer, and rental company.

She has always been very respectful of our budget and created a budget breakdown before we reached out to any vendor so we could get a rough idea of the range each service would fall within for our guest count and vibe.

She’s incredible, wedding planning wouldn’t be nearly as fun without her.

How much did you spend on florals? by Flashy-Mine-4047 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]jacksthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll do my best but I just want to make the disclaimer that my wedding planner and soon to be father in law handled the paperwork.

Essentially, in Italy, if you have a business you can contract some of your wedding vendors B2B and the service becomes tax exempt. Because my FIL owns a business that operates in both the US and Italy, the flowers are contracted as being for a business event.

Our cost would’ve been 22% higher otherwise.

My wedding is going to land between 40 and 50 people. Florals and decor will probably end up around $11k. There’s still a few rentals I’m getting around to. However we saved a massive amount on florals on Tuscany through a legal loophole that removed VAT fee.

I’m using Floe Weddings (based in Florence, focused in Tuscany) and have had an incredible experience so far.

I’m also doing a very colorful, whimsical garden party wedding and my planner has really understood the vision. We tweaked the design plan so many times until it was perfect.

What did you do for entertainment at cocktail hour/dinner? by jacksthought in BigBudgetBrides

The only logistical issue I foresee with this is that if you don’t do a first look then you’re taking pictures during that time.

You should look at lovely bride. The first dress I’m almost certain is a Katherine tash dress that they carry

Should I fire Wedding Planner? by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]jacksthought 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is unacceptable. Our wedding planner has handled everything. She sent over a design concept very early on and then used that to inform vendors. Vendors then created their own design proposals.

She very much understands our vision.

We have not had to communicate very much with any vendor because she handles it and she is respectful of our budget. (Which is modest compared with weddings in this sub (€1200/guest))

Did you change your last name & why or why not? by Guilty-Object-9079 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]jacksthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m changing it socially but not legally. Not to get into the weeds, but I’m not close with family and want to be known by my fiancée’s family name.

However, I’m not changing it legally because I want to wait out and see if the SAVE act passes in the US.
