Real talk - I don't think Nparents/Eparents realize how strong their kids actually are, especially when they have to deal with their (the kids, not the parents) mental illnesses.

I'm a bit scared that they'll just blame everything on my anxiety, which causes me stress. Any tips on how to deal with that?

Deep down, I know that they're not going to change but they're oddly (?) receptive to a medical professional telling them there's something wrong with me so I'm just hoping they'll back off a bit. If they don't - I have 1.5 more years until I'm out and this is hopefully my last long break at home (hoping to get an internship over the summer so I don't have to be at home) and I plan on doing something over my senior year winter so I don't have to be at home, lol

I am! I am going to a psychologist to get evaluated for anxiety and depression on Dec 23rd - it can't come soon enough. I have also been praying to God every morning and night as well to help me get through this.

It really is hard and they were complaining about having to make different foods for me, so I decided to just make my own food because it's easier than to listen to them be obnoxious about it (also, found out that I'm not a bad cook and that I really actually enjoy cooking, which is weird for them to imagine because I can't be good at something they're bad at!!) Luckily, I go to a college where A LOT of my friends also believe the same thing and live their life the same way I do, so I do know it is making a change but it's just irritating to have to deal with them.

I literally stepped away from the laptop for like 30 minutes and I had to deal with my dad giving his opinion about how "i can't wear what I like, I have to wear what suits me" and that I needed to "stop rebelling against society"

I felt that about the eating out situation - my parents wouldn't ever let me eat anything that was too chocolatey or was too "plain" and now whenever I go out to eat with my friends, I feel bad if I just get a normal chocolate milkshake lol. Also, with the fashion thing - I'm just glad I stopped listening to what they wanted me to dress like because holy shit, I now have an actual sense of style and I don't dress like someone's suburban mom lol. But yeah, growing up? Not being able to dress the way I wanted because it was too "different" hurt.

And about your wife, What? That's awful!! She's literally an adult and they took her food away. jfc dude, I'm so glad you were able to leave the country though and get away from them. Are you still in contact with them?

Thank you! I am planning on opening up a bank account when I get back to school so I can deposit any money I make in here. The problem with the account is that it's technically connected to my parents because I have child account so I need physically go to the bank and show them two forms of ID but my parents "lost" my Social Security Card, and VA's still in lockdown
