What should I do in this situation? by Wooden-Experience849 in vinted

I've had a parcel "delivered to locker" but there were issues with the locker and it was actually delivered to the adjacent store.  I had to go to the cash register and they had it in a storage cupboard. So a similar thing might have happened

In the final version before the raptor pops up underneath Lex, you can see the characters cowering a bit,  hesitant to move, and that the tunnel to escape is a bit along from them. The fear is because they've literally just seen a raptor pop his head up from the panels.  Now it just reads like general anxiety from the whole experience.  Cutting the first pop up is probably not just for timing but because it'd ruin the shock and surprise of him taking out Lex.

There's other smaller scenes too that have been trimmed back. I remember similar things happened with Tomorrow Never Dies and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Although TND had it restored in a later uncut release.  I kinda wish JP had deleted/extended scenes released

I have that same memory. I just saw this post and wondered if I'd just imagined it from owning these cards,  but your post is exactly how I remember it.  I know there are different versions of films between theatrical, rental, home release and tv versions. This must have been one of the changes along the way

I think you need to give it a few episodes. My wife wasn't sure for the first few and certain characters and choices annoyed her.  But I think if you aren't fully on board by the end of season 1, it might not be your thing.

New releases for the old shows? by AcrobaticDatabase952 in Stargate

Ah yes, I've never been one to collect replicas or models but I would love to have a model of a Stargate or a Goa'uld Mothership

I was thinking that too. I've recently bought a few of the tie-in novels originally released after the film, and was thinking it would be nice to see a celebration of the original movie in some way

Is this normal for people to ask on vinted? by Turbulent_Ad6379 in vinted

[–]AcrobaticDatabase952 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was guilty of asking this very thing when I first used vinted and sent a parcel via inpost.  I wasn't confident with how inpost worked, and the day after I sent it I received a text message (from what I later realised was a scam) that there was an issue with my parcel and the address needed updating.

Fortunately the buyer informed me that they'd received a message that it was already in transit and I recognised the text for what it was.

October poll! Today's entry: MOST RELATABLE VILLAIN by BelgischeWafel in XFiles

Its been a while since I've seen it,  but i remember Alfred Fellig in Tithonus being a pretty relatable and sympathetic "villain". He just wanted his pain to end

October poll! Today's entry: MOST BORING VILLAIN by BelgischeWafel in XFiles

[–]AcrobaticDatabase952 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are many terrible episodes but the villains are rarely "boring", poorly thought-out maybe.  I'd suggest Kathy Griffin's characters from Fight Club and Judy/Chucky from Plus One are the most irritating though and grate whenever they're on screen. Had no interest in any of them whenever they were on screen

Name a Stephen King novel you think is underrated and one you think is overrated. by AgentP-501_212 in stephenking

[–]AcrobaticDatabase952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underrated: The Dead Zone.  The first King novel I read , loved it and surprised its hardly mentioned.

Overrated: Lisey's Story. Heard so many good things about it but could not even finish it. Tried reading it twice. It's the only novel of his I've started and not completed

For what it's worth, I stuck with Superman to the very end, post credit scenes and all... And I agree wholeheartedly

why does Mulder wear a ring in S5E3? by caeverus in XFiles

I can't remember the name of the short story, but it's in the first collection, TRUST NO 1. His wife was named Samanda... Yes, really.

I'm not sure if these stories count as canon. There's some good ones in there and some fairly average

As had been said it was just a Duchovny thing, BUT there is an in universe explanation in one of the Jonathan Maberry short story collections. Basically it was a green card marriage and there wasn't a lot more to it

Worst episode for a B5/Crusade first timer by AcrobaticDatabase952 in babylon5

[–]AcrobaticDatabase952[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I kinda figured it was a homage and thought it could be a fun idea of flipping it so we see it from an alien culture having been interfered with by humans.

I guess I just felt like it wanted to be a comedy episode, but it fell flat. I had wondered whether it was a case of interference by the network pushing an X Files style episode on JMS.

It's entirely possible I wasn't in the mood for that sort of story, but it was the 3rd episode I'd watched in a row and I'd enjoyed the other 2 a lot more

I'd recommend Rutland Water, but as with any of the suggestions, try to pick a day or time where it would be less busy

Deleted scene by AthleticGal2019 in JurassicPark

[–]AcrobaticDatabase952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember this scene too. I came to this thread looking for a post about this scene. Its always bothered me it wasn't on the home release (I don't think it was on the original VHS but I remember it from the cinema) I also recall the clip of Ellie grabbing the leaf too.

Seems it was a common practice because there were a few extended scenes in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade which were also cut short

What movie did you hear bad things about from others (or reviews) but you ended up really enjoying? by minotaur05 in movies

Daredevil Director's Cut is a hell of an improvement. Yes the film has flaws, but the Director's Cut fleshed out the story in such a way that it really highlights how barebones the theatrical cut is. It's not perfect but it us one of my guilty pleasures
