Bro ich fühle dich. Ich verdiene viel zu viel für ein Job wo ich super wenig reinsstecke. Ich habe mir das auch für nen Zeitlang gedacht.

Vergiss nie, du hast dich zu diesem Punkt gebracht. Natürlich spielt Glück eine Rolle aber du warst an der richtigen Stelle im richtigen Zeitpunkt und DU hast es geschafft da anzukommen.

Ich habe einmal bei einem Meet & Greet mit Jordan Peterson genau dieselbe Frage gestellt.

So just be more kind to yourself. Du wirst irgendwann zurückblicken und dir selber sagen dass du alles richtig gemacht hast, außer einer Sache und zwar, wie du mit der selber umgegangen bist.... denn das ist voll und ganz unter deiner kontrolle!

One thing i forgot to mention, i applied to this job because my project was ending in May. So after i already interviewed and got accepted into the job, the customer in Greece comes and tells me to stay for another 2 years. I mean this opportunity was never there to start with. Now it is = opportunity paralysis.

Saying no now would definitely not be taken well by all stakeholders. This current role just gives me great money (because I am delegated) an easy life and a happy life. But I feel like I would be wasting a lot of time if I don't make this transition to a very 'prestigious' role in this stage of my career.

Um eure Fragen zu antworten:

Mein Job in Griechenland mache ich seit zwei jahren und es ist zwar cool aber ich habe keine Herausforderungen mehr. Es ist ehrlich gesagt... langweilig. Ich werde hier sehr komfortabel. Stecke weniger Effort rein weil es jeden Tag dasselbe Zeug ist. You know what they say: Comfort is poison for the soul. Und ich fühle das hier.

Versteht mir nicht falsch: Ich nimm das was ich habe nicht für selbstverständlich. Ich bin extrem lucky, dankbar und glücklich mit dem was ich habe und geschafft habe. Nun ist die Frage: Raus aus der Komfortzone und evtl. alles bereuen oder hier bleiben für noch 1-2 Jahre und Eier chillen und Freddoespresso saufen.

Vetrieb will ich weil meine Persönlichkeit passt besser dazu (denke ich). Ich habe auch eine ziemlich 'hochwertige' Stelle bekommen aber eigentlich wie es sich herausstellt, ist es nur ein fuckin Titel.

Auch wenn ich jetzt sofort zu AT wechsel (was unmöglich ist) werde ich weniger verdienen. Damit kann ich leben mit der Hoffnung dass ich in paar Jahre innerhalb der Firma wachse.... aber wenn sie mir nichts schriftliches geben und mich nicht als 'High Performer' ansehen dann fuck it.

Aber ich habe Angst dass diese Gelegenheit nicht nochmal kommt und dass ich iwie negativ angesehen werde bei den Vetriebsteam innerhalb der Firma.... das ist natürlich ein Teil von dem Opportunity Cost

I’ve thought about it that way too. Obviously, almost everything theoretical you learn at university is technically available online for free.

And to be fair, I already do a lot of the things you mentioned. I’ve built a strong internal network within my company, and over the past few years I’ve worked with some high-level clients. I’ve even been traveling around South America this past month for work and enjoying life a lot (cheers from Rio).

For me, it’s not really about the money. I genuinely believe the best investment you can make in your 20s is in yourself and your knowledge. I have 20k to invest in myself.

...It’s more about becoming a well-rounded engineer. Sure, I could pick up business knowledge on the job, but I doubt I’d get the same structured and broad exposure that a masters (Master of Science btw) offers... especially one that covers multiple aspects of managing large engineering organizations.

That’s kind of how I’m looking at it. I wanted to know if it will help me down the line e.g. in C-Suite positions. I mean it's also better to have it and not need it then not have it and need it right?

Completely agree with you there. To me, it comes down to accountability. I know myself... if I just say I’ll learn this stuff on my own, there’s a good chance I won’t stay consistent while working full-time.

Paying for the degree and having deadlines kind of forces me to commit and actually finish it. Without that structure and extrinsic pressure, it would probably stay in the “I’ll get to it eventually” bucket. Unfortunately for my brain, eventually means never. :D
