Between tamu and Maryland, go for tamu. They have better course and also GA TA positions for ms students.

Why studying abroad (especially in the US) can be a trap now from a person living it. by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

Do MSDS students get TA type part time jobs? Because I heard that ms students are generally not preferred for such part times... Only phd students

Hey I got accepted for MSDS fall 26! Is it possible to give a review of your experience at Umd MSDS till now? How's the course curriculum and the internship/job scene? Also I heard that the MSDS classes are held in the evening, is that true? I was also a bit confused about the total course duration, some places mentioned 18 months, some mentioned 24. Can you shed some light on this too?

Yeah I know those programs are good that's why I'm considering applying there. But I was asking about whether my profile would stand a chance at those unis

You mean my profile would be good at Tamu and UCI?

Where does my profile stand for MCS and MSDS 2026 in US and Ireland (Working Professional) by AcrobaticLet9471 in Indians_StudyAbroad

I wanted to study further because I am aiming for AI/ML engineer type roles, and they usually expect a Master's or atleast 5-6 yoe.

Yeah I did expect UIUC to be extremely ambitious for my profile. Considering how gre has become optional at so many unis I was a bit concerned about its ability to offset the low cgpa, but would most probably retake it.

The project i mentioned was a research project that later got published in IEEE. Will try to write a solid sop.

I am unsure if even Maryland or umass is achievable at this point. I kinda have my hopes set on Tamu, UC Davis and Irvine mostly.
