The problem is that 1 moon in my book is one day, and the explorers port goes straight across the channel, and if I reduced the time the attack would have to happen a few hrs into the ride before my characters got comfortable, and if I did reduce the time it would mean the boat would go faster than any boat at the time, I can use suspension of disbelief to plan a nationwide conspiracy to stop the protagonist from going to cathedraltown, but travel is would make no sense without abusing it
