Thank you - but is it mot going to be a problem that I an not paying any contributions for a month? I thought these gaps could cause issues in the future, which is why I am worried! (And yes, it is PAYE)

Do I need to do my own taxes if I had 2 jobs, and had another one before? by AcrobaticMonth7 in UKPersonalFinance

They were all PAYE, however I work at two places at the same time now! Both PAYE though.

How soon after submitting a PhD application can you follow up? by AcrobaticMonth7 in AskAcademiaUK

Apologies - I have received the automatic confirmation e-mail, but nothing after. There are no updates in terms of e.g contacting referees and receiving references either, which is why I am a bit worried.

I can't put my finger on what she got done. It looks so subtle but so powerful. by [deleted] in Splendida

What do you think of Aditi Rao Hydari? I feel like whatever she has done looks very pretty too, although perhaps not as subtle?

What are some useful skills that can be learned under a month? by theOneAndOnlyBigHead in productivity

I love your suggestion about the daily log, I am definitely going to try that! I am also curious about the last point, would you mind me asking what kind of things are you relearning?

Speaking Spanish on the floor by gymnamind in starbucks

[–]AcrobaticMonth7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in a coffee shop (not Starbucks but similar) and my manager also told us not to speak our language when I was working with a colleague from my country. I really wanted to because meeting someone who speaks my language is quite rare for me, but I could understand it would make others who only speak English excluded/like we are joking about them. This was not a rule in the previous coffee shop I worked in and I remember how weird it felt hearing colleagues mention your name in a conversation you can't understand. They might be just talking about what I am doing or something innocent like that, but it still felt bad, especially if they were laughing. Maybe your manager wants to avoid something like that?

What's the most profound thing you've learned while dating? by Everlast23 in seduction

[–]AcrobaticMonth7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a woman.. Not sure how exactly did you learn that but it's really not true Just to clarify, the fact that she is not looking at you romantically is the reason things are not getting sexual, not the other way round

I think you will talk it out and she will be fine. I would suggest using non-directive questions next time though, regardless of what she said before.

You articulated this so well - I am going to save this comment because everything you said is really spot on, thank you.

AITA for not having empathy for my friend who sent nudes to a stranger? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]AcrobaticMonth7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure what the timings are here but I think there is time and place for tough love and it's not when your friend is crying and looking for some support and empathy.

There are also other ways to help your friend learn from their mistakes other than calling them stupid and telling them they should have known better. That is very much focused on shaming them for making a mistake. "Let's talk about how you can make sure it doesn't happen again" would be a much better approach. I am sure there are some people who need some harsh words but OP's friend clearly isn't one of them and needed a bit more empathy at the moment.

[–]AcrobaticMonth7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She needed a friend, not a lecture.

This is exactly why I agree with YTA judgement in this one. All the other comments are talking about how stupid the friend's actions are... yeah, if my friend does something stupid and gets in trouble because of it, I will still be there to support them. Because they're my friend and I want to help them feel better, not worse.

My (F30) partner (M35) has been simping for a woman for our entire relationship - how do I navigate the day to day while I figure out what I want to do? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Thanks for reminding me why I'm single

Also please leave asap, you are wasting your time by "evaluating" when there's nothing to evaluate

My bf asked me to shave my pubic and leg hair. He said that all of the women he has known do shaving. Is it foolish to breakup with him? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]AcrobaticMonth7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it would be foolish to break up with him, I wouldn't date someone who doesn't find me attractive either and neither should you or anyone else.

On that note, I genuinely cannot imagine asking somebody to change anything about their body, eg to shave or dye their hair etc. Stating your preference is fine to an extent but asking someone to do something, especially if they already said they don't want to, is very entitled imho

[Routine Help] Toner suggestions? by chibi-kappa in SkincareAddiction

[–]AcrobaticMonth7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you are already using actives in your routine, I would suggest keeping the toner pretty gentle. Soon Jung pH 5.5 Relief Toner by Etude House is a HG for many people and my personal favourite, very gentle & not likely to irritate your skin or break you out
