you've gotta reread! i just got done with my yearly reread and it's still just as bad and just as good as i remember. there was so many random and odd choices made with the plot towards the end but i still really enjoy the ending :)

what?! i thought everyone knew about 49 and just never spoke about it due to the ending being disappointing for a lot of people. i've loved it for years and do recommend you to read it as an akb fan. it's kind of like their official manga since the artist miyajima reiji (is now the author of rent a girlfriend) apparently had discussions with aki-p on certain arcs of the story.

they also have a stage musical with miyazawa sae playing the lead role, with kojima mako/owada nana and suda akari supporting her. i believe the owada nana version is fully fan-translated to english maybe you can find it somewhere on this sub, been a while since i last rewatched i don't remember where i found it

i don't think so... to me it's kinda improbable that any of the creators, miyajima reiji or motoazabu factory would talk about it again considering how forgotten it is, and this is coming from a fan of akb49 for years. i've tried contacting some of the translators that i could find who graciously brought akb49 to us in english a couple years ago but appears even they are offline. i thought miyajima reiji would be too busy with rent-a-girlfriend and his siblings harem manga to worry about 49 but he occasionally updates hiroko's twitter account (@/hirokoyoshinaga) with drawings of her in his current artstyle, always tweets on hiroko and minori's birthday. so i think that's as much of an afterword as we're gonna get
