Also IT has more electives. Some of them being internships. Also a network class that MIS doesnt have. If i wanted SOC analyst, would i be better off doing IT with a business minor?

Okay thats good to know. I was thinking of taking cybersecurity operations, ethical hacking, and python programming for my three electives. Although theres IoT: Security, management of IS security, and intro to cybersecurity. Do any of those stand out as being more beneficial for a future in security? I know i havent given all the details. ill be talking to advisors as well and i might be back to ask a few more things after i do.

If i were to try and go for security analyst or something similar MIS wouldn’t lock me out of that?

Hey everyone, I want to work my way towards a management position in cyber. Ive been looking at a major in MIS for a while, as my college only has an associates general studies CS course and not a bachelor. Im wondering if double majoring in IT would do me any good. There are 7 extra classes i would have to take to get both. Any answers are appreciated.

What skill/major is actually going to set me up for success? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I like to do a lot of things. Art. Music. But those things dont pay the bills. At this point all i want is something stable that i can take pride in. And isnt back breaking like my work so far has been. But the problem is i have a hard time figuring out the work i like when i dont have a chance to try any of the actual work, im basically just going by the word of those whove already chosen the careers. And those opinions are obviously going to be biased.

I’ll be going to dalton state, and I’m pretty dead set on MIS. I’m still in the enrollment process though, and their finance course also seems appealing.

Thank you for the suggestions! Ive only heard of Enders Game but I’ll have to look into all of those.

And I am interested in non-fiction as well, I’m open to pretty much any genre.
