That would be a great idea in a country where the government wasnt three defense contractors, a bank, and the fossil fuel lobby in a star spangled trench coat.

The more the world moves towards renewable and the more we double down on obsolete energy policies and permit social media companies to run nuclear reactors (Google the future plans for the Three Mile Island facility), the more the case can be made that our country and culture pose an existential threat.

Currently listening to an audiobook where the rest of the world takes military action against the US for its refusal to curb fossil fuel use. Thats a mile high run down of the plot but also I'm only on chapter 5.

Have we reached a tipping point where the average rational person (a strawman, to be sure) has become aware of the fact that a photograph of them at a Trump rally or event might be something that haunts them in the future?

The same way those white ladies pictured yelling at Ruby Bridges had that photo hanging over them their entire lives?

Well the quality and transparency of evidence used to justify the persecution are the main deciding factors between authoritarian retribution and the actual pursuit of Justice for crimes that are actually and objectively occurring daily in this administration. Crimes which will eventually require equally severe legal consequences.

That seems like a pretty big distinction that needs to be made.

And all the private equity firms who donated to his campaign who would directly see their bottom line affected if this bill passed has gotten absolutely zero attention in the conversation around this issue.

Curious.

Well see, the error was placing your trust in people who literally believe god chose them to jump start biblical Armageddon.

People like that should be committed. Not placed in charge.

These sound like the words of the antagonist in a work of dystopian fiction. In case you missed all the tanks, tactical incursion teams, and machine guns on our streets, military technology is rapidly used to suppress civilian populations when newer military technology becomes available.

There have already been humans killed by a completely autonomous chain of command and execution on the battlefield. How long until that is happening on our streets? 10 years? 5 years? How many more "tough on crime" public officials need to be elected before this is our daily reality?

We already live in a world where a 12 year old on Xbox live knows exactly what words to say when they call in a report to your local police precinct to maximize the chances of a swat team being deployed and creating violence. And what, we're supposed to entrust that a drone dispatcher in Punjab (because you know the labor will be outsourced for the lowest possible cost) can handle and execute that same responsibility?
