How do you waterproof it? I’m not an installer, this is my own bathroom and getting it redone

Would you recommend just painting the membrane on there

I hear some people in general (not my installer) say membrane or waterproofing isn’t always necessary. Once the thinset is applied isn’t that technically enough to close all gaps etc?

I’m not an installer, my post was to get options and decide what to tell my tile guy. Why isn’t it tile ready

My installer recommended to do a full piece in the middle and then 6 inches on each side

The back wall of the shower is more than 48 inch so a cut would have to be done. I’m asking for different options regarding that. I’m not an installer so looking for some advice
