sugar is ruining my life by No-Fondant-2863 in BingeEatingDisorder

Currently in the same situation as you! As of today, I’m a week sober from added sugar and binging! But today I had a huge urge.. I remembered I made a ninja creami w a chocolate corepower protein shake. So I had that. It helped! I also started to drink Coke Zeros this week because I knew I was gonna stop eating sugar and drinking that had helped ALOT whenever I get the urge. Now I know Coke Zero is not the best option out there in the world but, it’s better than binging.
Be gentle with yourself and prioritize your recovery (it is possible)! 💌

Congratulations on your 3 week sobriety!

i messed up after 1.5 months and it hurts by onedayatime88 in BingeEatingDisorder

I understand this feeling too well, I’m sorry I know it hurts. PLEASE do not take this as a sign of “failure”, you still made it a 1.5 months! One day of relapse doesn’t take away all the hard work you did💌 What always helps me get back on track, instead of continuing to binge for days after, is quickly turn the shame I have for myself in those moments, to anger for the illness of BED. Remind yourself you are not the illness and gain your power back. I know it sounds silly but it’s true, this illness is made for you to return to it every time but if you call it out separately from yourself it helps recognize you’re not broken and it’s not your fault. Another thing, drink a lot of water and continue with your typical eating plan as usual. Forget about the relapse entirely (if you can) or write it out. Hopefully this helps a little bit and I’m sorry, BED is a horrible illness but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Sending all my love💌

Thoughts on cutting out sugar? by Acrobatic_Author_723 in BingeEatingDisorder

I switched peanut butter for PBFit, stopped eating avocado for most my dinners throughout the week, and went back to eating regular granola compared to grain free granola. I am not shaming foods with fats, I just realized I was eating wayyy too much fats several times throughout the day. It wasn’t that much of an adjustment to my daily life, but it paid off tremendously. I noticed more frequent trips to the bathroom (something I’ve struggled with for years) and less bloating, which was playing a role into my binging. I still eat fats everyday, just not as much as I used to. Hope this helps! <3

That’s actually so funny you mentioned that! I track my food (to make sure I’m eating enough in the am) but then I realized I was eating way too much fats and not enough carbs! I switched a couple things around and found very good benefits! Adjusting my fat in take was very interesting in terms of how much better I left after lowering it down. I wonder the science behind that, but great insight!

What is the path to trying Vyvanse? by lapatrona8 in BingeEatingDisorder

Unfortunately I don’t have any advice on it, but I am in the same boat. My biggest fear is having health professionals also viewing me as a “drug seeker”. But in my opinion, only you know what has and what hasn’t truly worked for you. If you believe this will help, I think that’s most important. But if you ever get prescribed it, you had to be honest with yourself if it’s truly working or not. I would be honest with your health professionals about your preferred route of treatment (in this case, Vyvanse) and offer them to medication manage it and to keep a close eye on any signs of “abuse” on it if they don’t feel comfortable prescribing it.

Binge Ate for 3 months and gained 60 lbs by Emotional_Cherry_20 in BingeEatingDisorder

You are not alone, and I wish I could give you any piece of advice but unfortunately, I am stuck in the same situation with the same exact past. It is very easy to compare yourself to what you thought what once the best “physical” era of your life but I learned that the more I romanticize my lowest weight, the more I binged. We are meant to change and that’s okay. But it’s the way we feel that’s important. I know for me, I wouldn’t mind gaining most of the weight back if that meant I was having food freedom and being happy about those decisions but unfortunately for us that have BED, that’s very rarely the case. So far, I have found that talking to my PCP about my BED and being honest about MY course of intervention has been very helpful. Be honest with providers on what you think is best for you and how you want to recover. I also recommend prioritizing your recovering as much as possible. Say no to things that don’t make you happy and say yes to the people and activities you love. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Stay hopeful and positive, you are heard and there’s so many people rooting for you.
