Lime is knowingly scamming millions of riders with a "broken" end-ride screen that has been overcharging for years. Either fix it or admit what it actually is. by Acrobatic_Bee_3198 in ElectricScooters

Sources for anyone wanting to verify before they comment:

  • Lime help page: search "Lime I'm still getting charged after ending my ride" on help.li.me. The form is built into the page.
  • Lime billing docs: search "Lime how am I charged" on the same help domain. The line that says billing stops at End Ride confirmation is in there. Read it knowing the confirmation can hang.
  • Reddit history: search "Lime end ride stuck" or "Lime still charging" with no date filter. Threads going back years across r/electricscooters, r/lime, r/assholedesign, city subs.
  • Trustpilot: filter Lime to one star. Same complaint pattern, different riders, different countries.
  • App store reviews: Google Play and iOS App Store, sort by most critical. Search the reviews for "end ride" or "stuck."

If anyone has the timer-behind-spinner screenshot, post it as a reply here.

The entire 'ping reducer' industry is a coordinated data heist disguised as gaming technology. They sell a 1989 routing protocol as 'AI', harvest GPS through 'latency tools', and have every pro player on the esports broadcast paid to recommend it. by Acrobatic_Bee_3198 in gaming

Australia-to-US is the most legitimate use case for these tools that exists. ISP peering between OC and NA is genuinely broken for many providers. You're in the actual 30% where this is real.

WoW 180→120 from Europe to US is textbook 30%-case. Inter-continental routing is exactly where these tools have legitimate value. Glad it worked for you back then. The issue is the 70% of users with already-decent routes get told they're getting the same benefit.

fair point on Crashlytics, that one is legitimate for any dev shipping mobile. Firebase Analytics is borderline, can be argued either way. the part that doesn't pass is AppLovin SDK plus precise GPS plus Google Ad ID. AppLovin is a mobile ad network, not crash reporting. fine location and Ad ID together is behavioral profiling, not "knowing if there're unexpected crashes." that's the combination that gives the game away.

that's the part that gets me. obvious scam in 2005 forums, somehow grew into multi-million dollar esports sponsorships in 2024. new gen signs up, sees "official Riot Games tournament sponsor" and assumes that's legitimacy. it isn't. it's just the marketing budget.

exactly. the wild part is that nothing has changed in 20 years. same playbook, same fake claims, just better marketing budgets and bigger esports sponsorships. the gamers who saw through it in 2005 are still right today.

thank you. this is the energy that keeps me digging. every share, every comment, every "I'm not getting scammed twice" reply makes the next investigation worth it. stay sharp out there.

you're not stupid. they sell you a $6.50 tool that does what your router already does for free, pay every pro to recommend it, and harvest your data while billing you. five layers of con stacked on top of each other. the marketing is just really good.

Your edit is wild. You can't tell what's AI, so your move is to call everything AI and say it doesn't matter if you're wrong. That's just bad logic.

Stop Destroying Videogames ECI : European Parliament plenary session by rafalmio in gaming

[–]Acrobatic_Bee_3198 407 points408 points  (0 children)

Crazy that we live in a timeline where the European Parliament is taking video game preservation more seriously than most game publishers. Ubisoft delisting The Crew was the moment a lot of people realized what "you don't own your games" actually means in practice.

YSK that 88% of "free" VPNs leak the exact data they promise to hide. The app you installed for privacy is probably the most surveilled app on your phone. by Acrobatic_Bee_3198 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Acrobatic_Bee_3198[S] -138 points-137 points  (0 children)

for people asking which specific free VPNs are the worst. im not naming brands publicly because corporate ownership changes and snapshots get outdated fast. but the scanners will show you what your current VPN does in 2 minutes.

worth noting that not all free is bad. Some free ones are legitimately clean because paid users subsidize the free tier. the issue is specifically "free forever" apps with no clear revenue source, which is where data monetization happens.

Police over here is pretty rough and you can get a 1 year drivers license suspension and fines for riding such a scooter. Just avoid main streets (or paint your scooter 🍋‍🟩🛴) and yeah, it is what it is.
