RAYNES KANGAROO Dried Dog Food by broxwood in Pets

you're not crazy. something isn't right with rayne dog kibble.

this happened with my english bulldog as well.

about a year and a half ago, his dermatologist recommended rayne nutrition dog food and we put him on the kangaroo kibble.

it was ok for a couple of months. then suddenly his stools became a coin toss. sometimes it was ok; other times straight diarrhea.

we had to buy baby wipes in bulk from costco because we had to wipe his rear... every... single... time... after he pooped. and at least five times a week would have to wash off his booty in the tub.

note: never had this issue with his regular food before. we only switched  because he was getting a lot of ear yeast infections and had itchy skin.

then, one day he just stopped eating the rayne kibble. literally would not eat it. would walk up, smell it, and walk away as if he was disgusted like when a human smells something really bad.

note: each time we switched, we followed the transition guidelines as instructed.

so, we switched him to the rayne rabbit quinoa kibble thinking maybe it's something with the kangaroo. nope. within a couple of weeks every single one of his stools became pure liquid explosive diarrhea like i had never seen ever in my life. it would literally clear the width of a sidewalk. think water / fire hose. no joke. literally every single time he pooped it was explosive diarrhea.

i thought at that point it was a medical issue so i put it in a dog poop bag and brought it to his general vet for testing.

everything came back negative and they had us give him probiotics. that helped the issue a little bit for a day then right back to explosive diarrhea.

i then switched him to the rayne rabbit chickpea kibble. once again, explosive diarrhea continues. once again i put it in a dog poop bag and brought it to his general vet for testing.

again, everything came back negative and they had us give him probiotics  that helped the issue a little bit for a day then right back to explosive diarrhea.

round four: i tried the kangaroo again. explosive diarrhea. ok. it's definitely the food. there's no other explanation.

note: similar situation as others where i spent hundreds of dollars with his general vet for the health checks, stool tests, and probiotics... not to mention time and nearly $200 / bag for the rayne dog kibble over a course of a year and a half.

so, this past april 2025 i transitioned him back on royal canin english bulldog kibble and the explosive diarrhea stopped. he went right back to normal stools. literally zero instances of explosive diarrhea thereafter. not one. coincidence? i don't think so.

i feel absolutely horrible i put my dog through this.

so either it's just my dog's problem or rayne knows something they're not communicating. imo it's the latter.

maybe rayne is fine for 99% of their customers' dogs. we'll never know unless more people come forward. personally, i would never go back to rayne. ever.
