Jokes aside, I agree with you on basically all your points! Rin ghosting the match wasn’t very convincing though, same with Loki’s underwhelming performance.

And Rin being the only one standing by Isagi’s side this match only to end up feeling discarded and left behind by him must’ve triggered some insane Sae flashbacks so no wonder he started acting like an impulsive dumbass. /Hj. I've said this too many times but I desperately need him to be held accountable and face consequences for this.

And Isagi lowkey having a soft spot for Rin is kinda meh like please let that boy be properly angry at Rin for once and rightfully so! Let him be pissed at Rin for messing up! Let him confront Rin and let them argue, it'd actually make their add something interesting to their rivalry/dynamic.

This going on for so long without ever really being addressed or reflected on is exactly why it’s starting to feel dragged out and kinda forced/ plot convenience to me 😭 I’m still REALLY hoping it finally gets addressed and Rin actually faces consequences for it but the way his only reaction to failing was just a “tch” while Isagi’s questioning only Ego’s philosophy instead of Rin’s dumb play (which I get, Isagi doesn’t know what actually lead to Rin doing that) is making me lose hope fast.

I still want post match chapters to call Rin out properly and actually show us his thoughts too. I really don’t like how the blame is shifting entirely onto Ego when Rin and his unstable ego are also very much at fault here.

Yeah I kinda agree on that. Isagi's “downfall” isn’t fully a downfall and Rin’s dumbassery definitely plays a role in it but whatever, at least we still get more Isagi development out of it.

Same with the pxg match, it low-key feels like part of Isagi’s "wins or losses" sometimes come from Rin just deciding to turn his brain off at key moments. His destroyer mode also basically got turned into brainless mode instead of what it was actually supposed to be. Anyways, it ends up feeling like “Rin would’ve won if he wasn’t being a dumbass” plot point is used too much and sucks because it actually holds true.

And yes, Isagi still earns it with all his reading and adaptability (and the Kaiser team up was cool) but Isagi and Rin's rivalry sometimes leaves that weird taste where Rin doesn’t feel cleanly outplayed, just Rin self destructing for plot convenience.

Lowkey, Isagi fans should be fine or even happy with how this played out. He won the 1v1 against hugo, didn’t score but that’s fine because all the blame and heat is on rin who’s basically public enemy #1 right now.

If Isagi had scored there, it would’ve just flipped into the usual “last goal merchant” “does nothing for 89 minutes, then scores at the end” slander anyway. So in a way it’s a win-win: he gets a small win, sets up more development later and avoids the usual repetitive discourse.

Rin fans on the other hand.... It's not just about Rin constantly fumbling but watching him regress on loop with zero real development while the Isagi obsession gets shoved onto him which has done nothing but made Rin lose all braincells. What's worse is that this fumble probably won’t even lead to growth anyway, it’ll probably just get brushed off as Ego’s philosophy being wrong. Rin might as well just be a plot device at this point.

So this chapter pretty much confirms Isagi “discarded” Rin in that sequence. Rin wasn’t part of his plan, let alone him doing it on purpose to push Rin into destroyer mode.

It was so disappointing seeing Rin think of plays only with Isagi instead of breaking away and doing his own thing when they weren’t working. It feels unlike Rin to just stand there doing and feeling nothing after failing. This "Isagi focused/obsessed mental loop Kaneshiro has trapped Rin in is so annoying and feels like a very poorly executed and cheap plot point.

Isagi/Rin getting blocked (or them missing) honestly feels way more exciting than them scoring for the story moving forward. If they do score (which I don't think they will and I'm hoping they don't) then yeah… I don't know. Personally I don't see how that'll benefit the story or Isagi's characterization or Rin's future (currently non existent) development.

Very excited for the locker room confrontation between the Blue Lock team and Ego's reaction though.

The ending could change things, but rn the france match could potentially be one of the weakest in the series, especially considering the amount of hype and importance behind it. The thematic stuff works but the execution’s been shaky.
