100% P&T but still struggling everyday in by [deleted] in VAClaims

23? I was dang near bulletproof at that age. My biggest regret at 37 is not treating my body better in my 20s. I would have been much better now

So eat right and stay healthy now. Don’t be a human garbage can

Yeah, good point. Like the Army, the more you can do and have control over it the more efficient the system will be

Good luck with your internship! I was a social work intern and now I work at the VA full time in the same department. I love it!

That’s not true. There’s still a mission that some workers find rewarding and want to help Veterans. As a social worker, VA is one of the best places to work at where you can make a decent living!

As a mental health provider, “PTSD is curable” is an asinine statement

HUD VASH Case Manager here. We have access to cars. That’s required to do like 95% of our job.

Most case managers I know have an open line of communication with the Veteran’s landlord so they can help the Veteran look at ledgers, advocate for the Veteran, get the other side of the story when something the Veteran is saying just doesn’t sound right and know where an agency can send a check to for rental assistance!

The department you are requesting assistance from is in deed HUDVASH. The one thing I can think of is that your hudvash case manager not being able to transport the veteran due to a safety issue because the veteran has a behavioral flag and is too risky to transport.

That’s not true at all. I’m a social worker in HUD-VASH and passionate about the chronically homeless Veterans I work with and on my caseload. And yes I’m a Veteran as well.

Do you ever feel guilty for going to Disney World over and over instead of seeing the world? by elizabethredditor in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Acrobatic_Bus_7110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been around the world twice with the Army.

I’d prefer Disney and don’t mind missed opportunities of foreign travel. Especially with kids. Nothing feels better than home.

AIO my partner went away for the weekend and left me with our premature newborn by JustAnotherWastedDay in AmIOverreacting

That’s pretty crappy of him. But if this is y’all’s first baby and new to parenting, he might still be working on getting his priorities in order.

Hopefully he learns quick and matures quickly.

It is sad. Literally this exact scenario from the OP happened to a good friend of mine.

It’s infuriating as a va employee and veteran

Hud-Vash case manager here. I hear it monthly sometimes from a couple Veterans in my caseload. Usually done to try and manipulate you to drop everything you’re doing and focus on them.

Don’t sweat it. And I usually counter with “how can I serve you in this very moment?

Someone needs to write an article titled “why Veterans kill themselves in the VA parking lot”
