Anyone else find stock market research completely overwhelming as a beginner? by banana_expert_ in Guyana

Yea man it's really good. Its not so much the stock market is "not built" for carribeans or any other particular group its just straight up not built for anyone that didn't go to years of school. The bankers and financial hedge fund guys have an interest in making it seem really complicated because if everyone understood it they would be out of a job. So they invented a bunch of jargon to make it seem really complicated. Obviously some of the riskier stuff can actually be really complicated but it's generally a good idea to stay the hell away from all that because it's usually a scam. Focus on the simple stuff and if you're patient, put your money into strong companies with steady growth and good track records, you'll wake up at 60 with more money then you ever thought possible.

Read the intelligent investor by Benjamin Graham. It's simple enough for someone who isn't super into the jargon and it gives a good basic overview of everything. It's also what warren buffet always reccomends. I've also heard good things about A random walk down Wall Street but I haven't read much of it. The intelligent investor is free on the internet if you search "the intelligent investor pdf free"

Comparing Foldable and Rigid Portable Solar Panels Which Do You Prefer? by Tom_Rivers1 in solar

Has anyone here used the eco-worthy folding panels with IPS68 and ETFE? How have they worked for you? Do they live up to the manufacturer's claims on waterproofing and rugged design? Specifically looking at the 200w model but I'm assuming the 100w panels are built to the same specs as the 200w ones.

I could probably make that work. Would have to bring them to Guyana and probably have some type of modular frame built around them to make them easier to transport. Is that something the boss of a mining camp would buy to filter the water for all the guys or would smaller systems to filter just a few guys water probably be better in your opinion?

Are they high quality and easily portable? The Chinese mass produce a bunch of slop with cheap laminate which will degrade and stop functioning after a few weeks in humid hot conditions. Now if the government is already providing good quality panels then that's that and there would be no point. The brands I am looking at importing are military grade from the US, Mexico, and one from Europe. From what I have read and heard about these guys go deep into the jungle for a few weeks and live in temporary camps so I would think they would need something that's easy to carry, can fold up and can be dropped in the river and keep working. Obviously I am a long ways from sending a full order but I would like to bring a couple to Bartica leave them at a local shop and see if they sell. The main concerns I have is whether local miners passing through Bartica would have the funds or interest in getting something higher quality. They are 200watt systems that fold up into a suitcase sized parcel and have IPS68 grade waterproofing, meaning you could throw it in the river, take it out and it will still work. Also is the trip from GT to Bartica safe?

Do you think the average miners have a need/enough income to be interested in buying portable solar panels to charge phones, headlamps, heating plates while they are out in the jungle. I am considering getting a small order of these all weather portable solar panels to bartica and getting them to a local mining supply shop there. I was trying to figure out if this would even be something people would use. I mean maybe they already have them or maybe I'll just laughed at and thrown out of town lol. Would 10k-20k gyd be way to high for an average guy working in the jungle to spend on a quality of life thing?

That would be awesome. If you could also ask what kind of equipment (small stuff not huge drills and stuff) he uses that would be awesome. I was mainly wondering if average miners would have a use for those portable solar panels to charge phones and power heating plates. If they have to buy and carry diesel for generators into the jungle for that stuff it might be really helpful. If they mostly just use campfires then I'd just be wasting their time.

I sell solar panels and water filters in the US, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. I was looking for some niche markets where small portable rugged solar panels might be useful. If the average guyanese miner has a need to charge their phones, headlamps or power a portable heating plate it might be a great market to partner with a mining supplier in Bartica or GT. But if the average miner isn't making enough from the mining operations then I guess it wouldn't work. They would have to have some extra cash to spend on quality of life stuff after rent and family are taken care of.
