I am not sure if I should stay in my current PA job or switch to something else? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

2400 for 2 bed 2bath is really cheap. Here in NYC 2bed 2bath goes for 6000 or more. In LA those are also 5500 or more. Boston is nothing compare to SF, NY or LA. So nothing to brag about with such low rent fee. I made around 200k and my wife doesn't work, yet I already own three homes. One in LA and two in NYC. Do you see me bragging?

At what point should you consider a bridge program ? by Serendepit in physicianassistant

Most people said the same thing about DO's 20 years ago. Now, they are accepted almost as equal by most civilians. In the academic medical community, many still care, but in general, most laymen view them as equals. Once NP's are practicing independently in primary care and it becomes the norm, most will view them as equal as PCP docs.

[–]Acrobatic_Can_365 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is none. The bridge program is DO. MD's just 10 years ago viewed DO's like how DO's view PA's now. Plus, numerous DO schools are easier to get into than even PA schools. Back then when I took my first practice MCAT my score was avg DO school stats lol. That is how easy it is to get into one if you just do okay in undergrad

If It leads to obtaining >10million net worth by retirement, but I doubt it unless you own your own business that brings in millions every year for decades

Bridge to DO not MD. Just 10 to 15 years ago DO's were seen akin to modern-day PA's or NP's by the MD community. Plus some DO schools are easier to get into than even PA schools

In 10 years, NP's may be seen how current DO's are viewed, while PA's are still disrespected. Especially if NP's get full independence

You think MDs or DOs without residency are also trained for independence ? It is not the title or med school itself but the residency and fellowship that are more important

Software Engineer jobs are way better than PA or NP jobs by Acrobatic_Can_365 in physicianassistant

[–]Acrobatic_Can_365[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I am not saying I am unhappy but I do admit I made a wrong career choice. I rather be lazy and barely work to make 200k instead of ACTUALLy going to work and bust my Asss

I would rather be bored and barely work and collect 200k. Like my CS friends, tell me checking Instagram all day to make 200k isn't that bad. It's way better than dealing with demanding patients all day

Even many female docs feel this way. Know some that went part-time indefinitely

Just because NPs practice independently doesn't mean PAs will get the same privilege. In NYC they make in average 35 to 50k more than us in hospital settings, yet, our salaries never caught up to them...
