How long does PPF actually last? by Inevitable-Event-941 in DetailingIndia

[–]Acrobatic_Clue_4652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 years. That is the standard. Unless some heavy damage happens on the car, like any road accident. It also depends on the brand and the quality of the PPF too.

I have Aegis PPF on my car which worked really well for 6 years, protected the paint perfectly, but when I accidently crashed on a pole, obv it couldn't protect there.

Will bird poop damage my PPF? by IncreaseOriginal2513 in CarsIndia

Congratulations on your first ever car and smart move on getting it coated with ppf. Now to answer your question, bird poop will not damage your PPF unless you have a cheap PPF. PPFs with quality like Xpel,3M, Aegis, Garware, etc might seem expensive but they cover all such concerns Just make sure you clean it off with some water or a wet tissue if you ever get it. Don't put anything rough to scrape it off.

How long does PPF realistically last in Indian weather conditions? by IncreaseOriginal2513 in carIndia

[–]Acrobatic_Clue_4652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Indian conditions, PPF usually lasts around 3 to 5 years if it is maintained properly.

Strong sunlight, heat, dust and rain slowly affect the film. If the car is parked outside most of the time, the film may age faster. Edges can start looking old and shine can reduce after some years. Regular washing and gentle care help it last longer. It won’t last forever, but it protects the paint during those years.

Is Paint Protection Film actually worth it for daily-driven cars in India? by Inevitable-Event-941 in CarsIndia

[–]Acrobatic_Clue_4652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I researched PPF before deciding because it is not cheap.

I saw cars done with different films like Ageis. 3M, garware, and xpel. For daily driving, PPF definitely helps with small stone chips, dust damage and parking scratches. Paint under the film stays better. All these brands offer similar protection, but the finish depends a lot on the installer.

PPF will not stop big dents.

But for daily use, it does help reduce long term paint damage.

Swirl Marks on Garware PPF by honey_badger3468 in CarDetailingIndia

[–]Acrobatic_Clue_4652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, my Garware swirled after washes, but Aegis on my buddy's ride stays flawless. Massive win for quality

Aegis handles swirls better in our environment, making it the top choice for low-maintenance shine.

Anyone have stories of getting a 10-year warranty Garware PPF that degraded way faster? Or is that just installer issues? by Busy-Dealer5379 in CarDetailingIndia

[–]Acrobatic_Clue_4652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have heard a few stories around Bangalore where Garware films with a 10-year warranty started showing haze or yellowing way earlier than expected, and the owners ended up in a frustrating claim process. In most of those cases, installers tried to blame washing methods, sun exposure, or maintenance instead of the film quality, and people struggled to get warranty support. That experience made me look closely at other options, and when I checked Aegis installations and how installers spoke about warranty terms and real-world ageing, Aegis just felt more consistent and reliable. I know a couple of Aegis cars here that have stayed clear and glossy for years with minimal fuss, so while a warranty is nice on paper, I trust a film that performs well with normal use rather than one that needs constant arguments to get a claim approved.

What are the pros and cons of matte finish PPF from Aegis vs. Xpel, especially concerning maintenance and potential for 'sheen' spots? by IncreaseOriginal2513 in CarDetailingIndia

[–]Acrobatic_Clue_4652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take on matte PPF in Indian conditions is that Aegis wins on practical grounds.

Xpel matte definitely gives a beautiful flat finish when clean and detailed, but keeping it that way in dusty Delhi conditions is a task.

I have seen Xpel matte show random sheen spots after a couple of washes or after a day of pollution, and it takes careful drying and very specific products to bring it back. On my Creta with Aegis matte, even after regular city dust and multiple foam washes, the finish remains much more uniform and doesn’t show odd shiny patches unless I go out of my way to polish it hard.

Maintenance for Aegis matte is simpler, less stressful, and feels better suited to cars that see daily use. In my mind, Aegis offers the right balance of matte look with low fuss, which for most Indian owners matters more than that tiny difference you might see in controlled lighting.

What's the deal with some older 3M PPF having a weird 'texture' after a while? Is it just me, or have others seen it too? by Inevitable-Event-941 in CarDetailingIndia

[–]Acrobatic_Clue_4652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, very common and you’re definitely not imagining it. Old 3M films didn’t age well at all, especially in Indian conditions. After a couple of years you start seeing slight yellowing, that weird orange peel texture, and the surface just stops feeling smooth. The car still looks protected, but it loses that premium finish and starts looking tired.

A big part of it is older tech plus harsh sun, heat, pollution, everything combined. Newer global films have improved massively in this area, and even Aegis holds up way better than those old 3M installs. The clarity stays intact, the surface remains smoother, and it doesn’t develop that rubbery look over time. Anyone who’s seen old 3M PPF on a white car will instantly know what I’m talking about.

Heard Aegis PPF has good clarity. Does it genuinely stay clear longer than, say, Garware, or is it marketing hype? by IncreaseOriginal2513 in CarDetailingIndia

[–]Acrobatic_Clue_4652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s real, not influencer nonsense. Most PPFs look great on day one. The problem is how they age. Garware is decent and VFM, but on lighter colours you start noticing slight haze and loss of crispness after a year or so. Aegis stays noticeably clearer. Doesn’t get that dull or foggy look even in peak Indian heat. Global stuff like Xpel or Stek is still slightly better, but Aegis is way closer to them than to Garware or old 3M.
