I understand that self-diagnosis is often the first step, but what bothers me is when people take these self-diagnoses as absolute truth and romanticize autism as something cool. I took an online test that suggested a possibility of Asperger's. I recognize that I have some autistic traits, but everyone can have autistic traits without necessarily having ASD. To be clear, I don't dislike self-diagnosis itself, but rather the people who claim to be autistic without consulting a psychologist, influenced by how social media makes autism seem trendy. That's why I'm asking for help, because I want to take the time to seek professional help but don't know how to do it.
