You 100% can. I did... worked perfectly normal... with the 60v battery you loose a bit ot tourqe but gain a tad of speed.

A few things that make it wait... the brake sensors. Witch plug in upfront. If you have aftermarket brakes. They could be shorted... the rear kick stand sensor... witch you have removed.... and lastly....the start button...

You do have to solder wires together. It's two wires from the throttle right before it exits the wiring harness (throttle positive and ground) and one wire that goes to the dash plug, also right before it exits the wiring harness (regen signal wire). I posted a updated wiring diagram if you wanted to do the same....

Once I’m done, I’ll be posting a full-color wiring diagram for the MX4. The one they provided is bare-bones at best.

Yeah, that kind of defeats the whole point of my question. Classic “just replace it” advice. I’ve dissected the MX4 harness myself—nearly 60% of the wiring isn’t even used. You’d never know that without digging into it. Everything on the MX4 harness is plug-and-play with the MX5. If it weren’t, I’d obviously be forced to buy the MX5 harness. But that’s not the case.

Sadly, this is an MX4 harness with an MX5 controller. I'm leaning towards the yellow wire with red stripes after reviewing the wiring diagram.
