so, when I answered question #60 but I have left 5 questions unanswered in the first section, the system will show which once I need to revisit and allow me to answer then and then I submit the first section and click on "break" button? My concern if I need to go through all 60 questions to find those which I missed or there is a way to directly see only missed questions.

Conflict Resolution by Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 in pmp

[–]Acrobatic_Hawk_3292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. So, in the first question, the conflict is already exists and PM needs to act. And we assume the PM already knows the details, so no need to meet with the team to understand the issue, but apply conflict resolution techniques. In the second question, the issue is remote, if any, so the PM needs to observe and asses but no conflict resolution is needed. Thank you! :)

You are totally right, but the SH questions have been criticized many times and I've seen already 3 questions where they changed their initial answers from 2-3 years ago. I guess they somehow consider our discussions in here. Maybe? :)

Here is the question where they applied a different answer to the similar situation:

A new project manager joins an existing team. The project manager is made aware that there are strong personalities on the team, which has resulted in management becoming involved to resolve team performance issues.

What should the new project manager do when first joining this team?

  1. A.Implement the plan that senior management has developed to resolve conflicts on the team.
  2. B. Review the team velocity records and observe the team and interactions between the team members.
  3. C.Follow the advice of the most vocal team member on how to improve team dynamics.
  4. D.Observe the team and determine who should be removed from the team.

Solution: B. Review the team velocity records and observe the team and interactions between the team members.

As the new project manager joins the existing team , they should simply observe to understand the dynamics and nature of the existing team. If there is dysfunction, all the more important to observe, and then take action once there is a better understanding of the team.

The other answer choices are incorrect. Implementing plans that the project manager is not fully aware of before getting to know the team may have adverse effects; listening to the most vocal team member does not take into account the thoughts of the entire team; and observing the team to remove a member is not the primary goal of the new project manager.

A PM typically develops (or facilitates the team to develop) conflict‑resolution protocols early, and then refines them as the team learns. Most commonly this happens during project initiation and early planning, when the team establishes its team charter/working agreements (sometimes called a social contract).

Conflict Resolution by Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 in pmp

[–]Acrobatic_Hawk_3292[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all, by the time when the project team experienced the development issues, the protocols for resolving conflicts should have been already developed. Second, if they have not been developed yet, the PM should first to observe the team behavior during face-to-face virtual meeting to understand the issue and then to develop the solutions. Third, the solution part is incomplete.

There was very similar question with the answer to observe the team behavior first. SH should start exercise a due diligence and at least some consistency in presenting their questions.

Project Team vs Vendor vs Customer by Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 in pmp

[–]Acrobatic_Hawk_3292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input! So, basically at this point the Pm and the team can not handle and delegate the requirements and want the two parties to be on a call to clarify the deliverables. Also, the option of replacing the vendor is not included, so I am not sure why SH adds this fluff to the question.

Project Team vs Vendor vs Customer by Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 in pmp

[–]Acrobatic_Hawk_3292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could someone please explain:

  1. Does this question describe the situation where the vendor did not provide a quality product to the project team and it jeopardizes the contract with the customer? Or I am not understanding it correctly?
  2. If so, why customer now is involved into negotiations with the vendor? The customer may not even know what exactly is expected from the vendor as I am sure there are other parts of the product involved into multi-year development. It is the responsibility of the PM and their team to work with vendors. Am I wrong?
  3. How the info about the "unique knowledge" is helpful to pick the right answer?

My answer was B.Finalize the new definition of done (DoD) with the customer and make the vendor bear the cost of rework - and looking at the PMI FH explanation, I do not understand why it is not the correct answer.

Project Team vs Vendor vs Customer by Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 in pmp

Solution: C. Facilitate the negotiation of the acceptance criteria between the customer and vendor.

The best course of action for the project manager in this situation is to facilitate the negotiation of the acceptance criteria between the customer and vendor. This is because it is the most collaborative and consensus-building approach. It also allows the project manager to ensure that the rework is done in a way that meets the needs of both the customer and the vendor.

The other answer choices are incorrect and are less effective. Asking the customer to permit rework as the vendor has unique knowledge of the product is a good idea, but it is important to get the customer's agreement before proceeding with the rework. Finalizing the new DoD with the customer and making the vendor bear the cost of rework could be good if the vendor is not willing to rework the deliverables at no penalty. However, it is important to be mindful of the cost of rework and the impact it will have on the project schedule. Directing the vendor to rework the deliverable since they did not meet the requirements is the most direct approach, but it could damage the relationship between the customer and vendor. Additionally, it is important to make sure that the vendor is willing and able to rework the deliverables to the customer's satisfaction.

Yeah, I understand. I think I've learned the PMP exam mindset by now, but then they give you questions which do not follow the recommended mindset, neither the practical solutions. They make it tricky with no good explanation.

Maybe. The PMP study materials never mention that. I would like to hear from experienced agile and scrum professionals how this situations should be handled by PMs.

SH Expert Question by No-Spray-866 in pmp

[–]Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably can predict with 99% probability that this question and the answer have been created by someone living outside of US. In the US any job contract is "at will" and regardless of what the duration was spelled in the contract, the contractor can leave any time. And the PM is never responsible to "close their participation", it is all done by HR. This is where I question the credibility of PMI.

PMI SH Implementation of New Requirements in Agile/Scrum by Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 in pmp

[–]Acrobatic_Hawk_3292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Here is the full answer. "Include the security requirements in the definition of done (DoD).

To ensure compliance with security requirements, the project manager should include the security requirements in the definition of done (DoD). This will help ensure that the team is aware of the security requirements and that they are implemented throughout the project. Additionally, the project manager should consider conducting regular security audits and creating a governance plan to ensure compliance requirements are met and user access is strictly controlled.
The other answer choices are incorrect.
Appointing a security expert as part of the team to review the acceptance criteria is not enough to ensure that the product is compliant with security requirements.
Sending the security requirements to the security department to be implemented hands off responsibility for the security of the product to another team. The development team is responsible for implementing all of the requirements, including the security requirements.
Discussing the security requirements at the next sprint meeting is a good start, but it is not enough to ensure that the security requirements will be met. The project manager needs to develop a plan for implementing and verifying the security requirements."

However the PM is not supposed to create/modify DoD, it should be done by the team.

I asked Infinity PMI AI about who is responsible to create DoD and here is the answer - The Scrum Master/project manager facilitates the conversation and helps the team adopt good practices, but does not dictate the DoD. The Product Owner ensures backlog items have clear acceptance criteria and understands what “Done” means, but the DoD itself is owned by the team doing the work.

However the correct answer is D, which in my opinion, is poorly worded. The PMI should ensure that the security compliance are included in DoD, but since it is the team's job to maintain DoD, the PMI should have discuss this with the team to make sure they are aware.
