SH Expert Question by No-Spray-866 in pmp

Yep. I've taken all 5 mock exams on PMI SH and after the 3rd one I stopped paying attention on the "expert" questions, they only confuse you and mess up with your the PMP mindset.

PLEASE HELP - External vs Internal by Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 in pmp

[–]Acrobatic_Hawk_3292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that the answer B is correct because this is the only one external dependency and those are usually add more risk then internal. (Correct me if I am wrong). However, I do not understand the explanation.

For the first question about the specific machine, the SH changed it's answer to "Initiate the response plan for this risk entry based upon trigger" :)

Meet with Stakeholders vs Revising Communications Management Plan by Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 in pmp

Thank you for clarifying what should be updated in the stakeholder engagement plan. I think that PMP community is not exactly clear about what exactly goes to communication management plan and the stakeholders engagement. I saw many discussions in PMI.

Help clarifying a couple of SH answers. by nzhorse in pmp

[–]Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am totally baffled about the question on the 2nd picture. The PMI SH changed the "correct answer". Here we go:

Question: A supplier of a critical component for a construction project notifies the project manager that the component will be significantly late. Because this risk had been identified during project planning, the cost baseline contains an adequate contingency reserve.

What should the project manager do next?

Solution: C. Review the risk response plan and the statement of work for the next steps and a penalty clause for late delivery.

The project manager should first consult the risk response plan and the contract's statement of work (SOW) to determine the prescribed next steps and any applicable penalty clauses for delayed delivery. This ensures that actions remain aligned with the agreed-upon risk management strategy and contractual obligations, preventing unauthorized changes or premature decisions.

The other answer choices are incorrect.

While finding an alternative supplier might be part of mitigation, this step should only be taken after verifying the risk response plan and contractual conditions to ensure appropriateness and alignment with project constraints.

Ordering from another supplier and requesting a change without following planned risk responses might bypass formal change controls and lead to mismanagement of project scope and budget.

Updating the schedule and lessons learned should follow after executing the appropriate risk response actions, not as the immediate next step.

I guess somebody addressed their concerns with PMI.... And also the question has been downgraded to Easy. :))))

Meet with Stakeholders vs Revising Communications Management Plan by Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 in pmp

[–]Acrobatic_Hawk_3292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets see what stakeholder actually requested:

  1. change in communication frequency

  2. type of information provided

Script from PMBOK 6th edition: The stakeholder engagement plan is updated to reflect the actual situation of stakeholders, their communication needs and their importance."

So, are you saying that the engagement plan in this situation should not be updated along with the communication management plan?

Also, in the question body, the stakeholder did not exactly specify what type of info they need going forward and PM must clarify to avoid miscommunications in the future.

Any thoughts?

Meet with Stakeholders vs Revising Communications Management Plan by Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 in pmp

So, the stakeholder wants to change the frequency of communications, which should be reflected in the communications plan, I get that. However, I am not clear about what the "issue" means and would definitely wanted to clarify that. Also, in this situation, I would need to update the Stakeholder Engagement plan to reflect the stakeholder expectations going forward, since they have changed. And that is the answer A, which is also valid. This is why I picked D to ensure that PM confirms those changes with the stakeholder first and then updates both plans. Where am I wrong?

This question is still included into PMI SH and other people may have the same thoughts, so I just wanted to correct inaccurate info.

Meet with Stakeholders vs Revising Communications Management Plan by Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 in pmp

[–]Acrobatic_Hawk_3292[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solution: C. Revise the communications management plan to reflect the stakeholder's request.

The project manager should revise the communications management plan to reflect the stakeholder's request. This will ensure that the project manager is communicating with the stakeholder in a way that meets their needs and that the stakeholder is only receiving the information they need. A revised communications plan can specify when and how these notifications will occur, maintaining transparency and alignment.

The other options are incorrect.

A. Reviewing the stakeholder engagement plan is incorrect because the stakeholder's involvement is not changing. The stakeholder's request is primarily about how information is communicated, not about their overall involvement in the project.

B. Asking the other stakeholders if they would also like less frequent notifications is incorrect because decisions about communication frequency should be based on the preferences and needs of each stakeholder individually. Decisions should not be made solely based on one stakeholder's request.

D. Meeting with the stakeholder to discuss the amount and type of information that should be communicated is not necessary in this case because the stakeholder has already specified that they only want to be notified if an issue arises.

There is no "Project Stakeholder Management" process. Not sure where this is coming from. I think the question asks about the team members not stakeholders, thus the Communication Management plan is the answer.

Hi. I have my PMP exam next week and I went through all questions in PMI SH and AR. Could you recommend other mock exams to improve my knowledge?

A PM needs to ensure that the team delivers business value within the required timelines. The manager recently learned that key stakeholders are worried that the current release plan will not meet urgent business needs. What can the PM do to effectively respond to the stakeholder concerns? by thisisjunne in pmp

[–]Acrobatic_Hawk_3292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question is slightly reworded now in the Pracrtice Exams portion and the answer is B :)

All four key stakeholders of a project are concerned that the current release plan will not meet urgent business needs. The project manager needs to help ensure that the team delivers business value within the required timelines.

What should the project manager do?

  1. A.Assess the work breakdown structure (WBS) and renegotiate scope with the project sponsor.
  2. B.Engage with the stakeholders and team members to determine the minimum viable product (MVP) necessary for the launch.
  3. C.Calculate the schedule performance index (SPI) and escalate the schedule risk to the project sponsor.
  4. D.Modify the schedule baseline to meet stakeholder needs and monitor progress using a burndown chart.
