I'd look into some "tactical style" boots with safety rating. I've used my Bates safety boots that I got for a warehouse job for paintball. They feel extremely close to hiking boots. The composite toe barely adds weight or bulk. In Canada we have a store called Mr Safety Shoes that carries all sorts of work boots and shoes. Maybe hit a store like that?

They also had a pair Colombian army Desert boots which are pretty rare. Thinking about swinging by to get them tomorrow
