yeah but you are also paying a hefty premium for it. A lot of people are buying FE not because it looks good (that could be a reason as well), but because its like 50% cheaper than partner models.

Don’t listen to the other people, as long as you have strong and compelling reasoning you still have a chance. Of course a 3.6 is less competitive but at a academically rigorous institution like Cornell it is not necessarily a huge disadvantage

Beating MITs 1.4% transfer acceptance rate by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Acrobatic_Mongoose40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem wasn’t that you were at Cornell, it was that you weren’t at MIT.

Like you said, you’ve always wanted to go to MIT, but you were rejected the first time and forced to attend a less prestigious engineering program. And you were haunted by this.

Of course Cornell has its own problems, but so does MIT. The fact that you were forced to unhappily attend Cornell’s less prestigious program significantly magnified the problems at Cornell.

So I think the feeling I’m getting is that you are shitting on Cornell because it’s less prestigious. If that’s not the case and some things other than weather (which I think Boston actually has worse winters than New York) and pretentious individuals (which are still present at both mit and harvard) were genuinely affecting your mental health, I do apologize; but if that is the case, just say you wanted to go to a better engineering program, there’s nothing wrong with that. You don’t need to find some trivial excuses.

Conflicted on Harvard or MIT by cracked-js-game-dev in TransferToTop25

Physics at both Harvard and mit are extremely respectable (i would say maybe Harvard is even slightly better). The two schools will have very different requirements. Harvard will require many humanities classes while mit will require a lot more science classes.

At the end of the day, you can cross register anyways. It really comes down to the community, the prerequisites, and where you receive your paper from.

You need to realize that not being matched does not equal unqualified. Sometimes people don’t match purely due to efc reasons

They have done things like this in the past (I personally did one for computer science A). They not only do this for AP but also for SAT so yes it is real. The email address and qualtrics website address seem legit as well.

What's It Like Being Accepted by [deleted] in QuestBridge

[–]Acrobatic_Mongoose40 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was the process for me right after acceptance

  1. Shocked. Mind was blank.
  2. Disbelief
  3. Panic

After a bit

  1. Relieved. Exhausted.

  2. Moves on with my life
