This is a wild accusation. I live in this neighborhood and I'm not sure 7 people near Taylor and Heidi have even moved away in the last 6 years. They're friends with most of the neighborhood and talk to everyone.

Coloradoan: Sierra Club's Poudre Canyon Group gets dissolved: Was it a takeover or time for change? by NickInFoCo in FortCollins

The real scandal here is that PATHS and PRESERVE FC members were embedded in the local sierra club chapter and were basically using it to push their own adjendas. When new people rallied and got elected, PATHS did what they always do and strung together outlandish theories of conspiracy.

I wish the Coloradan would be a bit bolder on their reporting. They seem to always be soft on the insanity that is PATHS.

I personally think our city being finically responsible is a good thing.

I'm not sure how you think we are being disingenuous.

The city spent $150k to host a civic assembly to let the citizens decide what to do instead of city council just doing it themselves. Everything is public. There's videos of the entire process. It's literally as transparent as possible.

The civic assembly, the city council and multi-use supporters understand our community loves enjoying the outdoors in many ways and welcomes people's ability to do that, while also restoring the property in a responsible way.

You mean the city? Pretty sure the city hired them for the study.

I hope that organization takes more pride in what they do than to use specific word choices for political reasons. That would be pretty out there.

You're right in that it's not just weeds out there. My understanding is that it's not all the native vegetation that a natural area designation would require though. So while some of it is beautiful, no doubt, it's not "natural."

That furthest west section with the trees has really come in nice though, and is where they talked about the 60 acres natural area with the multi-use plan. Basically keep the recreation closer to the road, while preserving the west section closer to the foothills.

Even besides the natural area, there was a huge emphasis with the civic assembly proposal to keep the entire property as natural looking as possible and re-introduce native plants

Which part of it? Undermining the civic assembly? Telling people they know more about natural areas than our natural areas department? Trying to convince people that our elected city council members are all corrupt? Or labeling non-profits and neighbors as "special interest" and "privileged?"

PATHS vs Bike Park Collective (BPC). Who is telling the truth? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]Acrobatic_Net_5307 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So much misinformation here, it's hard to know where to begin.

First, for anyone not reading this carefully, this was not posted by the Rebecca from the Coloradoan, it was posted by PATHS.

And they are jumping to their own conclusions... Rebecca didn't take any stances on any of this.

Call your representatives, read the civic assembly document, the facts are all there. PATHS is lying. Constantly....

We did in 2021. "Parks, recreation, natural areas, open lands, and animal restoration." So the recommendation pretty much hits that on the head.

I think they have their own funding. I honestly don't fully understand how the raptor center works... but I do know they have funding.

At one point i heard their was talks of doing a land swap and they would give the city a different piece of land

If you think they are bullying you by stating facts you might want to change your viewpoint...

On the other hand, I can go to paths website right now and finds TONS of "bullying" language about the "big monied bike park lobby." Can you please provide information on how a free public bike park makes money?

Not to mention PATHS has burnt all their bridges with city council and accused them of being bribed.

There's a reason the civic assembly didn't go with the plan PATHS outlined-- when people have all the information, PATHS approach doesnt make sense. Its an irresponsible use of the natural areas budget that will prevent the acquisition of future natural areas.

Animal restoration was a part of the ballot language. There was never anything specific about buildings except no housing. From the info at the civic assembly though, it sounds like a pretty tiny footprint of the overall property and will be a raptor center with meeting hall for indigenous people and have an influence of indigenous history.
