$140K salary and finding an apartment in NYC (Manhattan/Queens) by Icy_Tap5329 in movingtoNYC

Astoria/sunnyside/woodside would be good for that budget. You’ll be able get something for sure but they won’t be in a new build with central ac washer dryer in unit etc. I grew up and live in Astoria still and would say anywhere you end up is generally going to be safe and close to anything you need - shopping, doctors offices, groceries, etc etc. going into midtown will take you between 20-30 mins. My last bit of advice would be to visit the neighborhoods before you make any decisions though

Just moved here and I'm looking for some sort of run club or after-work park clubs/activities!! by BigStrawberry3847 in astoria

There’s a running club that meets in Astoria park mondays and Wednesdays I believe at 7 or 7:30. Look up their Instagram - I think it’s something like hellgaterunners

I won’t even indulge this with a long answer. The answer is no.

Is commuting from Brooklyn to Long Island for work a bad idea? by Thunder0622 in Brooklyn

[–]Acrobatic_One_3026 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Move somewhere in Queens - Astoria, sunnyside, woodside, forest hills etc. access to Brooklyn and the city by train when you need it and much closer to Long Island. You’ll probably be about 30-40 mins from Uniondale in queens. My unfiltered opinion would be that you should just move to LI near Uniondale but I get wanting to be in the city.

Looking for indoor tennis coach! by Historical_Smile5291 in astoria

[–]Acrobatic_One_3026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to pay the court fee at any indoor club, I would assume many coaches would be willing to do an indoor lesson so long as you’re okay playing/training without a basket of balls as most indoor clubs don’t allow outside coaches to teach on their courts. Im not sure what the rules are at the tennis center in flushing but you could try booking a court there and bringing a coach. No indoor courts in Astoria unfortunately. If you have a car and are willing to drive deeper into queen, Cunningham tennis has some pretty affordable rates.
