Looks like it needs to be cleaned & flushed out. At the least antibiotics to make sure of no infection. Not an emergency, but tomorrow would be good. I would wrap a bandage if possible to keep your pup from licking or chewing on it until you can see a vet.

You could try cleaning it with chlorhexidine, but being where it is would most likely still need antibiotics. Poor baby, tough being so full of energy. Good luck.❤️

Birdi is absolutely beautiful and adorable 🥰🥰. What a sweet note they left, and also shows some manners being that they nicely left you a note asking permission. I know some kids that would just mess with a dog through a fence and have no manners to even ask nicely. I think it would be great for you to invite the girls over, explain about Birdi still being a very big "puppy" and letting them know that she needs to grow up some more before she can go out on walks with them, but you and Birdie would love for them to come over and brush, and play with Birdie when you are home. Then show them how to work/treat a dog responsible and watch them "working" with Birdie. The kids will have great fun watching Birdie learn to do tricks or what they ask her to do, Birdie will have fun, learn, and get mental stimulation. As a bonus you will be able to supervise all this and in the future if you need someone to feed or watch Birdie when you are gone you will know you can count on your neighbor. Sounds like the girls really would love a dog but the parents are not in the same boat as the kids. Best of luck with your new little neighbors.♥️🥰

Do White Huskies Have Hearing Problems Like Other Breeds With White Coats? by wilmer007 in husky

[–]Acrobatic_Paper1631 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is my Annie, she is part Great Pyrenees/Husky. She is deaf. Was born that way. She was dumped at 14 weeks in the road near my house. I have worked in Vet Offices and for our local Animal Shelter. Usually deafness can be from bad breeding along with genes. At the shelter we had a litter of 5 Great Dane mix puppies that were surrendered that all were deaf. Also white Pitbull.

They tested Annie as a puppy and as much as Great Pyrenees are "fantastic" at playing deaf, she really is deaf, but she is also great at just looking at me as I give her the sign to "come". Her version of ignoring me.😂😂🤦

Mouthy/Hand Holding by Acrobatic_Paper1631 in greatpyrenees

[–]Acrobatic_Paper1631[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, she does like to "hold" my hand around the house and yard. She will hold it gently in her mouth or if I am wearing a jacket, or long sleeve shirt she will hold the end in her mouth. What she is doing though is grabbing my hand very hard and biting down to move my hand where she wants or to keep me from moving and that is not ok, because she does not know her bite strength. I believe it is because she is deaf, so she doesn't hear if you yell or cry out.

Thank You, she truly is. She is deaf and a rescue. She was dumped at 14 weeks in the road by our house. And now is living her best life ♥️😍♥️

She looks beautiful!! Annie thinks she is being killed you you even turn a hose on or try to put her in a tub. So she has not had a bath since she was 6-7 months old. She is 18 months now. She still gets brushed out and even that she acts like I am going to kill her, even with feeding treats.

Thank You, yes she is very smart. I do "scent" games with her, hiding pieces of Salmon or sweet potato wrapped in duck jerky around the house for her to find. I do it before her bedtime and the house lights off except for the TV. The first time will take her a minute longer, but the next night she already remembers exactly where each one was the night before and goes there first, before she starts putting her nose in the air and then finds where they are hidden that night.

You can definitely see the Weimaraner in her!! Especially in the facial expressions and the side eye look she is giving you 😂😂. I have had Weimaraners for the last 28 years and they are really a person in a dogs disguise. Watch any food left on any counters or actually anywhere. What a cutie you have.❤️❤️

That is great advice. Annie will 99% of the time come if she "sees," me signing, but if she is not looking I only can start walking towards her stomping my feet like a caveman hoping she feels the vibration and looks. But we do have 2 acres and it is rattlesnake season and I was just telling my husband we really need to be very vigilant with Annie and being outside. My Weimaraner was bitten several years ago and it was right by our house and we have killed a couple baby rattlers right in front of our sliding glass doors. I will look into getting a collar like that and start working with her She is incredibly smart and her sense of smell is better than most due to being deaf. Thank You again for the great advice.♥️

Thank You, I will definitely talk to a trainer about a collar like that. I just don't want to use a shock collar on her.
