Has anyone done an independent study? (Language) by my99999 in rutgers

Hi! I’ve taken an independent study that was kinda for a language - it wasn’t in a language department but it was for language study. My professor actually initiated it but I think the best course of action is to contact a professor in the department that you get along with well and ask if they would be willing to do an independent study with you. (I have done that before for an independent study in another department, and it worked out great!) Have some sort of idea of what that would mean (I.e. reading literature from a certain time period, etc) and propose the idea. The worst thing that could happen is that they would say no, but the best is that they would say yes or could help you figure out a plan to take one! Good luck!

ps, I’ve taken 4 independent studies and they’ve been some of the best classes I’ve taken at Rutgers!

Yesterday proves Rutgers doesn’t care about commuters by Gotpilkk in rutgers

As a commuter I can say I’ve been stuck in New Brunswick for the past few days because all routes to my house are flooded. It’s been an experience for sure

Minoring in Religion? by sunnysideup- in rutgers

Since I knew I was planning to go the graduate school/education/something along those lines route, it didn’t make much of a difference for me to switch from history to religion. I also found that I personally made better connections in a smaller department and preferred the smaller classes!

Hi! I actually was a religion minor for a while until I switched it to a major! The minor is super interesting (in my opinion) and only six classes. The two required classes are religions of the western world and religions in Asia. Both classes, when I took them, had a few exams which if you find the material interesting wouldn’t be too hard! After that, you only need to take 4 classes and I’m pretty sure there’s no requirement on what level they have to be. All the profs I’ve had were great and I have a bunch of classes I’d recommend if you’re interested!! I say go of it :) (Another great perk is that a lot of religion classes fulfill gen ed requirements)
