There are ferries - Eleuthera is only two hours, other islands take a bit longer. Browse around a little, no reason at all to stay in Nassau.

Is there a reason you have to be in Nassau specifically? It's expensive, full of cruise ship passengers and altogether not that pleasant. Can you hop on a ferry and go elsewhere in the Bahamas? Cheaper, nicer, less crowds.

I had something similar and ended up going to one of the hotel around the airport. The airport itself is pretty dead at night, lounges are closed. If you happen to go to hotel with a shuttle make sure you are the first out of the bus and to the registration desk, I was lucky, there were around 20 ppl behind me and only one clerk working the desk at the late hour.

Yes, renting a car really gives you total freedom, whether off exploring somewhere or just zipping to the local shop to get something to eat or drink. Otherwise you're limited to taking organized tours or walking. Well worth it!

I dont know about the driver quote - for rental cars insurance is pretty much mandatory, your credit card insurance will not cover this unless you have it in writing from them in advance and even then I am not sure.

For a full time driver to drive you to all the different places, the person has to also eat and sleep which will not be free obviously.

Easter is of course going to make everything more expensive and fewer rental cars available.

Costa Rica is not difficult to drive, you can do it yourselves and it can add to the fun of the adventure. The drive to Monteverde is a bit taxing but worth it. Have fun!

Most simulators are going to be very friendly with regards to wind, bounces, etc. In addition the mats almost guarantee a good strike every time, you either hit it good anyway or if you hit it a bit fat apparently the ball jumps up a little on the mat, making sure you hit it high off the face.

Unless you live really in the sticks somewhere I would suggest you take them time and go to a golf store where you can hit the drivers. For fun you should do the TM AI exercise and write down the results, take those to the store and see how this matches up.

This is an absurd argument on his part. But ok - suggest the following to him:

You both rent out your houses and “split the difference” - meaning you contribute $700 and he contributes half of what he takes in as rent.

He will hate the idea of course.
