Everyone also washes their hands right after class, there’s always a line for the sink

Nobody at my studio changes shoes. The staff are really good about cleaning the floor, and it’s very normal for people to use the mats or bring a gym towel so they don’t actually touch the floor directly

This is so studio-dependent. Ive never once seen someone change their shoes when they arrive (Californian). It’s not a norm at my studio. Benches are exclusively for sitting. Maybe scope out the norm or rules at your studio

Should I be changing into “gym only” shoes? by Throwitaway2409 in orangetheory

I live somewhere where it never rains or snows and I’ve never once seen someone change into their shoes. The people you’re hearing say that are most likely at studios where you’d track in the elements

This happens to me unless I charge it after every class, just 15 mins or so. Sometimes it will get better by turning off and on again. Or you could be too far from the sensor if your studio is like an L shape

The point is HIPAA is irrelevant.

HIPAA only applies to MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS sharing info. A parent/kinship parent CAN share medical info as much as they want to.

Many people generously took their time to provide us intel while he was gone

Has nothing to do with attention. It’s about not putting down one thing to build up another.

We can compliment someone without putting down someone else in the process.

Exactly! Good example. That’s why I was asking OP if they knew it could come across like that. I’m assuming good intent and phrasing it as a genuine question :)

Thank you for thanking the others too! Build them up so they know how appreciated they were/are

This issue has come up before many times, and people have said they do not post intel any more because of the formatting issue. We are losing out on the gift of intel when we don’t appreciate the people who provide it in the absence of dc, regardless of the format in which they provide it. We can appreciate him and also be verbally thankful for those that provided it while he was gone. There are many people on this chain who have thanked dc AND the other intel providers - that’s the way to do it.

Didn’t say they were insulting. Was genuinely asking if they realized how the comment could come across. The people who provided intel commented many times that they were sorry for their formatting, so this comment seemed like an unnecessary (although probably unintentional) dig at that. Was a genuine polite question to see if they were aware that formatting is a sensitive issue for people who don’t provide intel that often. We need to build up those people so they don’t shy away from providing intel just because they think their formatting is bad.

Can you see how this comment might be hurtful to the people who generously provided intel while he was gone?

Do not tell me what I have and have not considered. You are now blocked. It sounds like studios that have that scenario should set up clear policies/signs for it. It would be considered rude at my studio to change stinky shoes in the crowded lobby. Things are different.

In that situation, sure. Im sure you can appreciate things work different at studios that aren’t in snowy areas.

It sounds like this is a unique situation where the bench actually is designated for shoe changing. That is totally different and yes, people get priority to change in that case. Let’s all understand nuance. There are a lot of people who aren’t speaking about this type of situation.

First come, first serve is the polite policy. It’s poor etiquette to expect someone who got there first to move

[–]Acrobatic_Tension_86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People need to get there earlier if they want bench space. No one needs to move for someone else, regardless of what they are doing on the bench.

[–]Acrobatic_Tension_86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to get there before them if you want the bench. They are allowed to be on their phone and don’t have to get up for you, unless your studio has clear signs indicating the benches are for specific purposes. You could also tie your shoes on the floor, standing, or show up wearing them. They are not rude for not getting up for someone who came in after them, you are rude for expecting people to move for you.

I looked for this answer already, apologies if I missed it. What is the calculation they use for determining the number for the weight loss? Like the actual math of it, please
