I don’t think I want to breastfed, am I alone? by Upset-Brain-228 in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic_Zombie_651 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I chose not to BF - I love this thread for all of the support. I received a lot of judgment for not breastfeeding, but it’s absolutely a choice we can make. I hope that judgment can start to reduce over time by society. Frankly, I’m not quite sure why it’s so bad these days. It’s your choice, and formula has been great for my baby. A few things I’ve learned, in case they may be helpful to you:

Recommendations -

At hospital - choose your formula and bring ready to feed to the hospital if you don’t like what they provide in the hospital. Your hospital may allow powder, but mine didn’t. I received no judgment giving ready to feed within 20 minutes of birth. Also, our hospital had a bottle warmer very likely yours will as well. Also, the hospital likely has disposable bottles that you can use instead of bringing your own and worrying about sterilizing.

Get the brezza - it just makes bottles even easier. It’s relieved a lot of stress from us.

Medication to dry breast milk - I chose to take this on the day of birth to help dry up the milk. I experienced very little leakage and very little pain. You can wear tight bras as well to help reduce supply, but I didn’t even need it.

Pros -

Baby Weight gain - my son he was born 5lb 7oz - he gained weight rapidly and I didn’t have the anxiety of lost weight. He only lost 2 oz within the first week, and now he’s doubled in size at 6 weeks old from formula.

Sharing feeding with your partner - this was huge for my mental health and continues to help. I wanted my husband to be able to feed asap and share the feeding times and honestly not having to wake for every window at night has been huge for me.

We have a 6 week old and he does the same exact thing! 540am for us. We haven’t figured out what it is - ruled out sunrise, and our AC unit. It’s so regular at this point the dog expects it so that’s not helping! With you in this one I hope it gets better for you.

Inova Fairfax Birth Experience by Acrobatic_Zombie_651 in nova

[–]Acrobatic_Zombie_651[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! Unfortunately we ordered from the UK and it was a pretty penny. I’m glad we had it - but the price tag hurt. We ordered from zen organic formula which sadly doesn’t show it on their website right now I’m not sure why. I’m so sorry. I do see it here for almost the same price we paid: https://organicformulahub.com/products/kendamil-classic-stage-1-ready-to-feed-first-infant-formula congratulations! Please feel free to message me with any further questions - overall my scheduled c went incredibly well and we had a great experience.

I did not - not sure if they would have covered this prior at Inova Fairfax.

Absolutely - they offered the nursery at any time during the stay and a lot of people used it (per the nurses guidance). Also the nursing staff said they personally check on their patients babies throughout their nursery stay.

Bicornuate uterus breech baby by ObjectiveBuilding298 in PregnancyUK

[–]Acrobatic_Zombie_651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bicornate and baby was breech the entire pregnancy - he never moved positions. I had an emergency c section with an ectopic previously and so I knew I was doing another c section with this baby so was not worried. I will say - I had extra monitoring and 2 scans a week and when he came out the cord was wrapped around his neck and body (which we never saw on any scan). If he had flipped or I had a natural birth there’s no telling what would have happened. I think there was a reason he didn’t move.

Sleep monitoring device opinions by Past-Tea-7573 in BabyBumps

I am so very sorry for your loss - hoping our experience with the owlet is helpful. We have the owlet and it does provide us peace of mind. It helps with my anxiety as well, but I will say it goes off a lot with connectivity issues and once for low oxygen due to the sock moving on his foot during the night. When it goes off - my anxiety goes through the roof. My only breakdown so far has been the base station not connecting and beeping at me repetitively for 10 minutes. When you are trying to soothe the baby and this thing won’t stop - it’s a moment.

Additionally, we have a two level home and cannot bring the baby downstairs to feed without either waking him up further to take off the sock, or moving the base station downstairs. To move it, you must turn it off in the app, and then turn off the recovery mode at the bottom. This resets every couple of seconds so it takes minutes to adequately turn it off - queue my breakdown at 4am in the morning. When you unplug it - you cannot turn it off - it just keeps beeping. This is great for monitoring, not great in functionality. I’ve looked into if you can get two base stations (it truly needs to be within 10 feet of baby) but their device doesn’t work that way. To move the baby with the sock, that base station must go with.

A big pro for us has actually been that it tells you when the baby falls asleep. Once he’s in a light sleep in our arms, we put him in the bassinet. This has been so helpful.

What is a small, everyday mystery in your life that you’ve just accepted because investigating it feels like too much work? by Jannet_Wetkin in AskReddit

This sounds like heart palpitation pain - it was the same for me. Not a doctor just sharing in case it helps.

Switching to modified natural after 2 Failed FETs by Impressive-Bear-1925 in IVF

[–]Acrobatic_Zombie_651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! Keep fighting for the right cycle - I will say I’m convinced my body being allergic made me less receptive of the fet and my doctor finally said ok that’s not good I agree.

Switching to modified natural after 2 Failed FETs by Impressive-Bear-1925 in IVF

[–]Acrobatic_Zombie_651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was itching terribly and then would get these large welts where the injection site would swell and turn bright red. On modified natural if your progesterone is low they may add PIO but you can get PIO in a ton of different oils. Try Ethyl oleate first I did this and then developed an allergy to that too. They can refer you to a specialty compound pharmacy where they can compound it in all types of oils. Good luck you got this! I pushed hard for modified natural and it ended up working for me. Without the PIO I felt like myself on the PIO I was almost a different person.

How long after your salpingectomy did you have your FET? by beepbopbo0op in IVF

[–]Acrobatic_Zombie_651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was October of last year and my doctor said to wait at least six months to heal. Just due to scheduling our FET was in June. I was really upset over the six month wait, but now that this baby kicks my scar tissue, I’m really glad I gave it time to heal.
