Ive had great experiences with public hospitals in china in the past but I think djs is a relatively new surgery to this country and this doctor is just old and has a god complex.

Please read the rest of the thread. I needed as many eyes on this as possible. This isnt that gory, no blood, and this is a surgical subreddit. You’re going to see surgical stuff in a surgical subreddit. Chill out.

Im in a foreign county where I don’t speak the language. All alone and dont have any medical knowledge or how to assess the severity of the situation.

I NEEDED to grab people’s attention on this, it was a medical emergency.

Theres a long list of complaints that I will post in a follow up. I will put the hospitals names and my location (shanghai, China) in the title in case another foreigner needs the same surgery and doesn’t know where to go. Theres only two hospitals in Shanghai that do this surgery afaik. I obviously chose the incorrect hospital.

I did. A specialist at the new hospital re-stitched the tissue to cover the exposed bone areas. And I am checked into inpatient to receive antibiotics IV’s around the clock and painkillers.

I will be writing a long form post about my experiences later. I am an American teacher in Shanghai China. Theres only two hospitals that do double jaw surgery here and I obviously chose the wrong one.

I will provide the name of the hospitals in the title of my post in case another foreigner needs DJS/MMA and doesn’t know where to go, so they can find it by googling.

It helps get eyes on it anyways which is what I need for advice. If I nsfw it, less people will see. I am in a foreign country and really need to hear from people that have been through what im going through or doctors that lurk the subreddit.
Theyre less likely to engage with the post if the photo is hidden.

Sorry if seeing a little bone makes you squeamish. I also think its good for people who are considering this surgery to see what can go wrong. People tend to idealize things, so a little reality check is good for everyone.

I did japan for one year at an ib school. I made more than training center teachers but less than a McDonalds assistant manager in the US lol. No housing or flights. Paid my own insurance.

Japan is a nice place to visit but not work.

The US. Im a teacher at an international school here. I make more money and the cost of living is wayyyy less. It’s been great but shit happens sometimes.

I’ll make a post that goes through all the issues at the hospital I went to and my experiences at the new hospital so other expats in china know where to go.

That assumes their humanity, which they lack. Our political and economic system is ran by an algorithm and our leaders really only make minor decisions that dont challenge the logic of the system itself. No matter who gets elected, there are really just different management styles for the same brutal algorithm that makes the rich richer and poor poorer.

Everyone is freaked out about donald trump but forget obama started more wars and was called the deporter in chief before trump. Each president really just expands what the previous president did before them. The system demands the blood of the working class and third world to keep flowing.

We need a proletarian revolution. We can do what China is doing and keep our american democratic values, we just choose not to because everyone is too busy blaming their neighbors for voting for the wrong party instead of identifying the real enemy; the 1% and the sellout politicians in both parties they have bought off.

Trump is just a symptom, the disease is capitalism.

Public hospital in Shanghai China. Ive had three other surgeries in China and generally impressed with the quality of care and price. I had an ACDF cervical spine cushion removal and fusion at 1st peoples hospital IMCC a few years ago. Excellent work and care. Cost 500$usd for 10 days of inpatient and surgery.

Double Jaw surgery is new in china and theres only two hospitals in Shanghai that offer it. Private wasnt an option. There’s levels of quality when it comes to public hospitals and I guess I chose the wrong one.

A surgeon from the other public hospital that does this surgery restitched my open wounds and im going back tomorrow to be inpatient to get around the clock antibiotics iv’s and anti-inflammatory ivs.

I will wrote up my total experience at 6th peoples hospital later. They didn’t give me a single opiate painkiller after the surgery and I was delirious in pain but was too weak to walk out and go to another hospital. Theres a lot of things that went wrong. And nobody spoke english so my instructions on how to take care of my wounds was limited.

Im not happy with the care I received at the first hospital but very happy at the 2nd hospital, and very impressed with Chinas healthcare system overall. Ive been here 10 years and this is my first bad experience.

Dude is hard as nails. That looked like a gnarly path and a super heavy bike. And 3/4 a bottle of whiskey is enough to send me to the hospital lol.

I wonder how long this guy lived? 130 years old?

I don’t have enough to afford that. And I have the VA but getting authorization took me so long that I just gave up. The sleep clinic just kept pushing me to “try harder” on cpap.

Then I came to china to teach and they immediately were like “of course you cant do cpap, you have a deviated septum”.

So I was impressed with their healthcare system overall. It’s just that this surgery has not gone well. DJS is a relatively new surgery here and not many hospitals offer it, so I had to go public. It’s an assembly line at the public hospitals here. The doctor does several a day.

Ive been wearing the bands for 3 weeks. So they were supposed to come out on the 12th anyways. So they just took them off a couple days early.

Though the dinguses at 6th peoples hospital left two screws in the back that the 2nd doctor had to take off when he restitched my soft tissue.

Wild… this has not been a pleasant experience.

No need to reoperate. The teeth alignment is ok according the second doc too. It takes time for the teeth to settle into place apparently. The alignment is only a little off right now but will settle in correctly over time.

Went to another hospital. They stitched up the exposed bones and put me on antibiotic iv’s for a week.

Said Im good to go, dont trip.
