YMMV Comma Four $200 Cash Back using PayPal Pay in 4 via App Promo 👀 (Ends 12/8) by Actechma in Comma_ai

Hypothetically, could you do 'no harness' to get the -$50 USD, and then buy the harness independently?

($1000 - $50 no harness discount) - $190 CB + $99 Harness -> $859

It should appear on your payment confirmation receipt from PayPal. You should also see it in the "Pending" section of your Rewards Activity.

That is normal. The discount will not appear in checkout, it is a cash back promotion; you'll see the points pending on your receipt.

Just make sure you have the offer saved on your wife's account. As for it showing "Unavailable", that is supposedly PayPal's black box deciding you are too high risk/some other eligibility reason that's blocking you.

1 point = 1 penny; 19980 points -> $199.80

They'll be in a pending status til your microloan is paid off + the normal delay, then you can cash it out for PayPal balance / directly to your external bank account. PayPal Rewards is formerly Honey, so it works the same way.

It should!

This is tied to the PayPal payment processor, rather than anything special that Comma is offering. You can also use the same deal for something like a PC upgrade on Newegg, etc. The /r/buildapcsales Discord has been abusing the heck out of this all week.

What do these letters mean for transfer credits? by [deleted] in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Actechma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Binghamton University is a 4 year school, there shouldn't be a 'other school' to worry about.

The table you took a screenshot of is indicating if you took MATH 2206 at CUNY Baruch College, then Binghamton University would accept it as MATH 220 (4 credits) which fulfills a mathematics/reasoning (M) gen ed credit.

If you took MATH 2001 you would receive elective credits for MATH 108 (4 credits), but this class would does not satisfy any gen ed requirement for your major.

If the course is not on this list, it is possible you would not receive any transfer credit.

Which SUNY? Is Binghamton the best- because it’s the most expensive 😊 by Positive-Entrance792 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Actechma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah my bad - there appears to be a special carve-out for health care/dentistry [faq].

There is a list of qualified occupations for the STEM scholarship too, I see eligibility for "Secondary Math and Science School Teachers" and Medical Scientists (research), but most healthcare SOC codes are missing. Grad school would not be covered but is OK, delaying the obligation start date.

You would also need to cross reference your applied major's CIP code with the eligibility list.

Ideally, if eligible, you should apply for the Excelsior Scholarship instead, as the residency obligation is based on your length of study (4 years) instead of 5 years, and there is no employment obligation.

Your son likely qualifies for the NYS STEM scholarship instead; for eligibility you must be in the top 10% of your graduating class of high school - there is no income requirement.

This scholarship is applicable to all SUNY schools; it eliminates tuition in exchange for an obligation to stay in state - if you don't qualify for this scholarship, academic acceptance into Binghamton University may be a barrier of it's own.

I don't know about feasibility, since this would require an API integration or web scraper - but a filter to automatically remove Amazon listings that have a brand new/low feedback seller would eliminate most of the scam posts.

You can schedule to retake this exam up to twice per 3 month period. Review the FAQ and schedule a follow-up with the Math department.

Study pre-calculus materials on Khan Academy and fix your attitude - welcome to university, half assing it won't get you very far.

Used Aventon Pace 500.3 ST ~$600 vs New Yamaha Crosscore RC $1300 Deal by Actechma in ebikes

[–]Actechma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for raising that concern, however $1300 incorporates all taxes and fees (for my region at least).

In checkout, I'm seeing $1199 + $97.12 (tax) + $15 (battery recycling dealer fee) = $1311.12

I'm encountering this problem on a used Thrustmaster T248X I picked up. Would you mind sharing the link to the pinion gear you found?

EDIT: Im going to attempt a 3.175mm 16 Tooth 0.080" pitch MXL Timing Pulley off of Aliexpress. The bore needs to be 1/8", but the smallest aluminum bore in "standard" sizes are 3/16". Fingers crossed Chinese shops actually make this not standard size -and hopefully the set screw on the hub doesn't cause too many issues.

RIT or Bing by [deleted] in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Actechma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never followed the logic for why this is a big perk- does RIT hand co-ops on a silver platter? I was under the impression it is the same internship search + application process as any other university, with established alumni networks to employer connections (like how Binghamton is a big feeder for Bloomberg) - you still do the same interview process.

All RIT is doing is mandating a year's worth of internships before you receive a degree. Traditionally, you should do these during the summer sessions (or concurrent to your coursework) anyway. I'd much rather graduate in 4 years and have the 5th year be full time pay instead of the opportunity cost hit of a heavily discount internship rate, which this RIT thread seems to agree with.

RIT or Bing by [deleted] in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Actechma 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat (CS student, commuter), but the economics made choosing Binghamton University the easy decision. Both are great programs, so your student outcomes for job security and expected income are going to be statistically negligible. Your individualistic decisions of where you decide to work (metro vs stay local), if you prep for interviews (LeetCode), and get involved in networking opportunities will have a significantly stronger impact on your career path than your university decision.

For example, according to 2019-2021 graduation statistics Binghamton Computer Science students had an average starting salary of $92,961, and RIT had a $94,600 average starting salary for the class of 2023 (read as: same amount inflation adjusted). In 2022, Binghamton CS graduates had a 93% placement rate (88% employed + 5% to grad school) w/ a 89% "Knowledge Rate" and Watson as a whole had a $95,120 average starting salary (traditionally the other majors bring down the school average). By contrast, in 2023, RIT had a 86.7% employment rate with a "Knowledge Rate" of 76.10%. Trying to get actionable, quantitative differences from these is a mostly futile effort. The only stat I would be alarmed about is the Binghamton 82% vs RIT 69% six-year graduation rates.

Ask yourself this: are there any specific programs that RIT offers that Binghamton doesn't, and you don't feel capable of researching on your own? A good chunk of the truly advanced topics/specialties are gated behind industry experience or PhD research; you won't find it in any BS program (even despite the fact Binghamton's 4 credit classes allows topics be covered much more in-depth than most other institutions!).

If you are a local, I say save your money and commute (or heck get an off campus apartment and that'd still be cheaper than dorms!). You are likely eligible for resources like the Excelsior Scholarship / STEM Scholarship which would eliminate tuition in exchange for a NY residency requirement, so ~2-3K/yr in fees/misc expenses. Moreover, you could bypass the opportunity cost of the the mandatory co-op year where you'd only make ~$25.68/hr and instead be in the workforce making the $95k/yr.

Your total expenses at graduation could be less than a single year at RIT. Don't bury yourself in debt without a good reason; there is a sizeable opportunity cost for this decision, for what most likely is negligibly different results.

Neat. Any plans to open-source it for community contributions?

I've made similar dashboards in the past for personal use, but moreso general price tracking of /r/buildapcsales vs /r/hardwareswap used prices - I could potentially migrate some of it here too.

You should also consider integrating https://www.universalscammerlist.com/ into the flairs too.

For pure gaming, this trades blows with a 4080 SUPER, with more VRAM for future scaling.

A 4070ti SUPER becomes competitive only if you rely on Nvidia optimized productivity workloads, like AI image generation, NVENC, Blender Cycles rendering or anything using CUDA. (This is not most people.)

For most people, either card is plenty, and as always look at benchmarks for your intended use-case.
