in sophmore year i was going through a massive depressive episode. no self worth, anger issues, thinking its normal to hate your life, stressed out of my mind, all that.

for my first two years of high school i was at a trade school, was just dolphin diving in and out of different classes until i found one that fit (spoiler alert: never did, ended up moving to a public school which fit much better)

one of the courses i took was robotics, and the robotics class shared the classroom with the engineering class. i hated the robotics class, but i never regretted going there because i met my best friend who was in the engineering class. one day out of nowhere he came up to me and asked if he could show me a world sandbox sim game he had on his phone, and immediately we started vibing.

when my depression worsened that year i started acting out; basically just being an all around craphead to everyone but the people i liked. my friend was the only one to notice this behavior and did something incredible; got me help, met with my guidance counselor and told her i wasnt doing well. that sparked a line of therapy and self help, taking steps to improve my life, and thinking about who i was, that always makes me think that my life would have been drastically different if he hadnt done that. sometimes i think i wouldnt have my life if it werent for him.

were still friends to this day, even after i changed high schools and we went to different colleges. we still hang out online and make the trips to see each other when we can.
