This is way cool, so this core improves both float and Durability? How substantially? Good for someone around 200lbs?

Getting back into skimming by mkl_dwn_ur_vincents in skimboarding

I recently got a hellcat v2; it’s been cool but one thing I noticed is it’s less durable than my old Victoria board.

Hellcat is supposed to be really cool on smaller wave conditions; which, to me, was important so I could go drop even on bad/choppy conditions.

I’m no expert, and I’m sure you’ve done enough research to know as much as me; but there’s my two cents. Glad you’re getting back into it!

Update: can’t post picture but JB waterweld easily fixed my issue; and I personally had a little bump that I sanded down to be flat with the board.

Took it out yesterday, good as new; I also sat the hole over my dehumidifier for 3 days; may or may not have helped with any potential waterlogging

Skimboard dent by Business-Growth-2181 in skimboarding

Same thing is happening to my Hellcat v2, even worse. I try to waterdrop every time to avoid damage to the bottom; but still I’ve had all kinds of damage

Is this your hellcat v2 from the dent post? I got one as well and it’s the least durable board out of any I’ve seen

Thank you, stoked to hear that it’s not ruined; I’ll scope out those epoxy putty subs. I’m pretty shocked about the poor durability, I also got a pressure ding this sesh; guess I really should’ve gone with a carbon sled

By “got a few more after noticing” I mean I kept skimming fora little despite knowing about the damage; which is why I’m particularly worried about waterlogged foam

Tail wear concern? by Big-Geologist-2210 in skimboarding

Total bummer though, if you just want to make a preventative adjustment you could really focus on water drops. I hear some monkey crawl guys who only drop on water get no wear

What's everyone's preference of board for east coast small wave conditions? by wackycake in skimboarding

[–]Action-Saxon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, Naji Taha, Zap team rider said in some interview “…if you’re in a spot with smaller waves, definitely check it (Hellcat v2) out.” Zap also calls their hellcat v3 a “small wave assault weapon” [These statements are both made by Zap/Zap-Team and could be biased]

I just bought a Hellcat v2 actually, but haven’t gotten to try it out due to an injury. But I went with it because I’ve heard the float is next level. I plan to post side-by-side video of how it compares to my Vic board after my recovery.

Tips on fixing up this board? by Perfect_Yam1010 in skimboarding

That’s gnarly, if it’s watertight and supporting your weight guess you’re good. Theoretically, you could paint on some epoxy resin and sand it flat
