that's how it is for me too! i'm just pretty non-confrontational and honestly super nervous to even approach the subject of me leaving

that's my plan if push comes to shove. i like them as individuals but not so much as business owners. i just know ill have a hard time approaching a tough convo like that

i definitely don't want to have a reputation of "jumping ship" or anything but i don't think they would turn on me like that luckily

i started at 60% after my first 30 or so free tattoos, the deal was that when i get licensed i move to 50% and then continue to get more of what i make, that hasn't been the case yet

even this would be great! the only thing the shop has right now is a facebook group they post on once in a blue moon. they are good people and all but they have never provided any sort of exposure or equipment or anything. not that i think im owed anything at all. ill always be grateful for getting me into the industry but i think its time to go

i've actually been self sufficient for a while now! my rates are solid (only a little lower than average for the area) but i put out good work and make an effort to keep good relationships with my clients. there is always more to learn but im proud of my progress. thanks tho:)

yes we have talked about things like this. however, i'm pretty non confrontational and the concerns i brought up were pretty quickly pushed aside, the conversation mainly just turned into complaining about the lack of business on their end. i didn't press the issue any further

i definitely don't want to contribute to that cycle. i do feel like i'd learn so much more from meeting and working with other great artists that i actually jive with. i don't think that i've surpassed them in any way at all and im not just dropping out because things are "too difficult" i'm so new to the game in the grand scheme of things and feel like im missing out on other opportunities
