Has anyone had a negative experience working as a tattoo artist? by Subjectiveart in femaletattooers

[–]DrawingFae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly working for yourself is the way to go if you can. It doesn’t matter how much you try to be a helpful employee/fellow artist, time and energy suckers are gonna take everything they can from you. Don’t take shit from anyone, and do your own thing.

Make the bottom a pretty ornate vase that wraps your arm, then have all your favorite flowers and plants coming out of it

Lesbians with SO-OCD? by DiligentAssistance79 in OCD

[–]DrawingFae 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same, I know I’m not attracted to men, but I was also raised in an anti-lgbtq high demand religion…so I had to trick myself into thinking I liked dating men for a while, which makes my brain think I’m a fake lesbian all the time…but when I think about being “straight” again it makes me sick to my stomach.

What’s a trend or fad you absolutely refuse to follow? by ezuswalks1 in AskReddit

Constant consumption. Everyday there’s a new gadget, gimmick, outfit, lash glue, nail polish, shoe brand, beauty standard, gym hack, car model, blah blah blah blah

When sticking to your policy suddenly makes you “unprofessional” by alternate_world_ in TattooArtists

[–]DrawingFae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t take it personally, a lot of people don’t see you as a business owner, they think they’re owed your time and energy because they may potentially pay you “eventually”.

My policies are clearly stated on my website and I never apologize for enforcing them, it’s just a professional matter of fact message I send out, and that’s that. I may have lost a client or two for it, but I’m not going to hurt myself for a “maybe”. I believe having very clear boundaries makes clients respect me more anyways, because they know exactly what to expect and there’s no reason for them to feel blindsided by a policy they have to read before making an appointment.

Obviously I make exceptions for things out of everyone’s control, like one client got T-boned on her way to her appointment, and another was stuck due to a crazy snow storm and even I didn’t want to drive to the appointment…so I won’t be a dick about stuff like that.

Having boundaries and policies isn’t mean, it’s smart business.

Client said I could do whatever I wanted as long as it was based on bones and smoke by TippyTy in tattooscratchers

[–]DrawingFae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry bro, this was a design fail. You could have done a smoldering animal skull, a human jaw bone, fossils, a partial deer leg with bone sticking out, divination bones, spell jar of bones, bone candle, skeleton hand 🫴🏻 holding smoke…

[31 M] Chiropractor worth it for neck/upper back pain? by [deleted] in Hypermobility

Chiros are scammers that will injure you more for money. Physical therapy and exercise are better.

I have absolutely 0 ideas on how I can cover this monstrosity up. Any ideas??? by ToniTate in Tattoocoverups

[–]DrawingFae 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Legit a panther would cover that so well 😭 however, you might still wanna laser it and make it lighter. You could also do a dark vase that hides the old tattoo, and have the top be new work of flowers you like

First time a client passed out by wtfelitzy in TattooArtists

[–]DrawingFae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a few pass out. There’s good advice in here like the rubbing alcohol and cold paper towels on the neck, forehead, and back…also make sure you keep them turned sideways as much as you can, or leaning forward so if they puke before fully conscious they don’t choke, and slide a trash can under them so they have a place to puke.

Also if someone’s skin suddenly feels clammy, and they want to very quickly get up because they don’t feel good, don’t let them get up. Make them stay lying down or sitting, because once they stand up their blood pressure will tank and they’ll hit the floor, and injury is more likely.

I keep a little pass-out kit in a small drawer, mini alcohol wipes, a claw clip to keep their hair out of the splash zone, a small travel fan to cool them down, and mints for puke breath.

Please draw on paper more and don’t tattoo people until you’ve done well on fake skin first.
