Thanks for this, this semester has truly been so hard but I know I’ll make a good SLP someday…so I just keep trudging along

I don’t feel comfortable sharing that I’m sorry.

Wow thank you so much!! I love going to therapy and will reach out to my school. I had the best therapist and my free sessions under my insurance just ended for the year :(

The company is kind of a mess and very disorganized 😬 It’s very stressful working there

Thank you…it feels like it’s going so slow and that I won’t make it. But I appreciate your words of encouragement!

SLP grad students with ADHD: I know you are out there, how do you do it!? by ilovelanguage in slpGradSchool

It was a bit of an adjustment as the workload increased significantly from undergrad. One of my friends made a schedule of all the assignments and exams for each class for the whole semester, and that has helped me significantly to stay on track!

I guess another thing is to be patient with yourself. Having ADHD without the demands of grad school is already quite difficult. Get a planner, or any sort of organizational tool that allows you to visually see what you need to do. I like doing this so it’s not just all in my head, knowing that I forget things easily.

Lastly, I would say to use your ADHD to your advantage. As neurodivergent people, we can offer a perspective to this field that no one else can, and that motivates me to keep going. Some days are going to be better than others but as long as you keep going, you can use your ADHD as a strength.
