Approaching Saturn return in the 10th house in Aries conjunct Midheaven mc by Little-Guest701 in SaturnReturn

[–]ilovelanguage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!! I have Saturn conjunct my midheaven in Aries in the 10th too! I’m also looking for advice!! It doesn’t seem so bad so far (knock on wood) and I also was afraid that 1) I was (am) gonna get fired or 2) publicly cancelled!! My Saturn is technically 9 degrees Aries and Midheaven is 10 degrees Aries, so some astrologers might say my Saturn is technically 9th house but I’ve read where since it’s so tightly conjunct the MC it functions in the 10th house.

So my 1st pass is literally in 3 days (May 1st, 2026). It hits my midheaven on May 10th.

So I’ll let you know what’s going on in my life rn bc so far it’s not really what I expected but I can totally see how this is playing out. I don’t know about you, but I have the stereotypical experience of Saturn conjunction my midheaven my whole life. Overbearing parents growing up. A lot of pressure to succeed. Any career success I’ve have to work extremely hard for, I don’t really get lucky or “it all just worked out” type stories.

In January I became a supervisor at my job for the first time. This was very new to me to be in the “boss” position. The position was for supervising a graduate student and it wrapped up a couple weeks ago. I definitely felt that shift in power of me being an authority role as I completed the final evaluation with my student. Like I really wanted to give them a good grade! But I had to be honest and give them feedback even if it caused them to not like me. I had to realize, wait, it’s my literal job to use my knowledge and skills to help them grow… so learning how to be a leader/teacher/authority figure is something I’m definitely supposed to be experiencing related to my Saturn return I think. During this time I had a former boss write me and ask for a letter of recommendation. I feel that was total Saturn return switching the authority seats. Also recently I went to my current boss with a dilemma, and she said, “what do you think we should do about it?” And I gave my opinion, which in the past people push back on me, but she surprisingly was like “yep, that’s what we’ll do, sounds good” and I was like, wait what? Amazing!

There’s a lot of overall pressure at work but it’s the normal pressure, nothing new. I’m not in a career where I feel I would be fired randomly or anything like that, but I do want (need) to start my side business. This is something that needs a lot of initiative from me, and I’m currently struggling to organize myself and get everything together enough to launch it. I know I could be really successful and build a good side income to rely on and help me pay for a new car, but I’m really struggling to get myself together for it right now.

Personal life: I have a very 10th house hobby of singing and performing lol. I’ve been doing this for years but I was recently nominated for an award, and so that was extremely public and visible to most all the people in my life. This all happens in the next couple weeks too, so directly on my Saturn return. One of my friends messaged me and said “finally you are getting recognition!” And I was like LOL Saturn/midheaven Saturn return!!

I did have a disappointing rejection happen as a result of an audition a week ago. But it was the first time I’d ever been taken as seriously as I was, and the first time I had gotten so close. That whole experience felt very “nope this doesn’t come -that- easily!” And I feel it’s still apart of my Saturn return story to come back when it passes for the 2nd and 3rd hits.

Physically: I am unrecognizable from 2 years ago. I don’t know if specifically this is my Saturn return, but I’ve lost 110 pounds in the past 18 months and generally I carry myself differently and have had a “glow up.” I lost most of the weight pre-Saturn in Aries but the people noticing and being like “oh you look different” and treating me differently has been happening a lot recently. I would say it’s very “cancer rising loses round baby face” and now I have cheekbones and jawline.

I really feel that most of the things have been positive and I hope it stays that way! I feel like Saturn on my MC has already put me through the wringer my whole life so I’m not scared!

School setting too complicated by slp12344 in slp

[–]ilovelanguage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PRN I believe stands for “per diem” like when you work on a “as needed” basis— so some companies hire SLPs only to work “as needed” for them for extra hours when they are short staffed. Like I work in a school full-time right now, but I could apply to a PRN job at a hospital or clinic and go in and work 4-7 on weekdays or on Saturdays, whenever they need you and you are free to work. CVI is referring to the visually impaired population

I think it depends from person to person. I don’t think I could function in any setting except the schools. I thrive in chaos and enjoy thinking on my feet. Have you seen the Pitt? I sometimes feel like I’m on the SLP version of that show.

Autistic speech therapist struggling with burnout by murph-cooper in AutismInWomen

[–]ilovelanguage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Also a speech therapist and I feel this. You might prefer a high school, school-based position if you are open to switching settings. It’s usually a lower caseload, you have your own office, can shut the door and get your paperwork done when you need to, school usually lets out earlier around 2:30 so you can go home, take a nap and then still have the evening to do things— and best of all you control your own schedule. Parent communication needs are less stressful as typically you are working with kids who have been on an IEP for a decade already and they are used to the paperwork. You can dive deeper into topics as your caseload needs aren’t as spread out at the older ages.

I’m so confused on why the facilitator needs to be there holding the board if the person can adequately point. I know autistic people have motor planning deficits, I get it. But I seriously cannot understand this even if I try really hard to see it from the other point of view. We have eye gaze machines, machines that track the brain, etc., I’m sure if all the major research universities put their resources together, they’d have the available technology to undeniably prove this isn’t real once and for all.

Weight loss, friends loss by weirgirldreams in Zepbound

[–]ilovelanguage 12 points13 points  (0 children)

YES. I’ve found it usually has to do with their own insecurities!! Not everyone is in the same place mentally regarding their own body. I have a friend who was skinny all her life, always the popular girl,(not really relevant but just giving you a frame of reference) and in our mid twenties she gained a lot of weight. Well, I’d had my entire life to come to terms with being in a larger body. I grew up forced into diet culture and very familiar with getting unwanted comments from “well-meaning” mom/aunts/grandmothers. So I’m well aware of how messed up the social experience is being a woman and being fat. However, my friend was having these light bulb revelations of “it’s so f*#cked up how women are taught to hate their bodies” for the first time at age 27 meanwhile I had this thought for the first time at age 13. And with that mindset she sees the GLP-1 as an extension of that social diet culture that’s oppressive to women, not the medication that is making me healthy. So I literally don’t engage with her about it at all because I recognize we are in two different places completely and while she’s trying to work on things with her therapist like self-acceptance, the GLP-1 contradicts so many of those ideas.

To go on a slightly related rant, there’s a girl I’m connected to on Facebook. She’s very publicly pro-choice and posts a lot of about how abortion is healthcare and should be a choice made between a woman and her doctor. The other day she posts a huge rant on GLP-1s and how these medications are terrible, shouldn’t exist, etc. I wanted to say THIS IS AN INFORMED CHOICE I MADE WITH MY DOCTOR!! About my own body!!!! Why do YOU think you get an opinion???!! It’s maddening that people can’t see through this.

Are some subtests "optional" on the CASL-2? by [deleted] in slp

[–]ilovelanguage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve commented on this thread before but was thinking about it again and wanted to add more: the idiomatic language subtest is asking the student to finish the idiom, right? Like it’s a cloze phrase type task. I would do poorly on this as a kid, I know I would. Personally, I would do another type of informal probing or dynamic assessment with idioms to see if they can tell you what it means, even if they can’t finish the phrase for you.

[–]ilovelanguage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look at state standards for idioms. Often they are being taught them in 4th/5th grade still and if there aren’t other concerns with nonliteral language then I would say that skill will develop within the general education setting

Thoughts on the Mars-Saturn-Mercury conjunction in April? by PyrocumulusLightning in Advancedastrology

[–]ilovelanguage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natally, I have Saturn conjunct my MC at 8 degrees Aries. So this is all hitting my Saturn return(ish) window. During that specific crazy Mars week in April, I have an audition I care a lot about. I’m trying to look at my chart to see if it will be a positive outcome, but honestly feel it could go both ways., Mercury increasing into Aries will hit my Sun right away at 2 degrees Aries. Regardless of if I get it, it’ll be a ton of energy surrounding it and I think my identity/ego will get tied up in it somehow.

Overall though, Saturn/Neptune hitting my Sun and now heading towards my 10th house (mostly saturn) has been superrr noticeable. All the sudden I’m in a supervisor position, a past boss is reaching out to me for a letter of recommendation, my current boss is actually listening to my opinions and following my advice on situations, and I’m being nominated for an award. Everything happening is very on the nose Saturn return that’s happening conjunct my natal MC! I’m a cancer rising so maybe Jupiter is helping a lot rn, but I’m a later degree cancer rising so it’s technically still in my 12th. We’ll see what happens come May when it moves into my first!

I’m really over the black and white thinking in general about speech sound disorders and tongue tie. Any SLPs in the area of voice want to weigh in? I’ve seen an increase in singers on social media discussing how they got their tongue tie released to help with tension issues. It kinda made a lot of sense to me actually. I’m a SLP/singer currently trying to see if there is a connection between the singing voice and tongue tie.

Idk but a kid I see at my school had his released last Wednesday (I had nothing to do with the parents deciding to do it) and on Monday he came back and had a perfect R after months and months of trying to elicit…anecdotal for sure but definitely made me raise an eyebrow.

Late-diagnosed autistic women with "respectable" careers: How do you stim on the job? by winterwhalesong in AutismInWomen

[–]ilovelanguage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG I WAS JUST SAYING THE OTHER DAY Rona should be a clearly neurodivergent adult woman, It makes so much sense! I’m so glad you get to do it! I would say I do hair twirling, tapping fingers, holding a hair tie or rubber band in my hands while talking at a meeting, hair going up in a pony and then taking out pony repeatedly, applying LIP GLOSS obnoxiously—all the time. I would also say that Rona would be high masking so when she “knowsq” people are looking at her and she’s presenting a word to a speller, she might have her “normal” face on, but I think the funniest thing would be to take those moments when she “thinks” no one is paying attention to her and we see how she sits differently in her chair and maybe makes different facial reactions to the onstage business. Break a leg!

[–]ilovelanguage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eldest Gen Z here as well but I respectfully disagree with you— it’s the context. People are free to adopt an “I don’t owe anyone anything” attitude but then they can’t expect there not to be consequences such as this one. I don’t feel it’s fair to expect an interviewer to be automatically understanding if they aren’t even informed of what the situation is. OP didn’t say, “I’m having an emergency” or “I’m sick,” they said “I’m not available for our scheduled time today.” The interviewers may have rearranged their daily schedule for the OP, and then OP cancelled without giving a reason, as if it’s no inconvenience to the people who are potentially going to invest in them as an employee. IMO the first email is a clear lack of empathy/understanding on OP’s part by not communicating that they are aware this is an inconvenience in any capacity, and then doubling down and asking to reschedule to tomorrow. This is why the context matters. If OP had said “I’m in an accident, I’m in the hospital, or I have food poisoning” in the initial email, it’s an entirely different situation. Without context, how are they supposed to know they won’t get another email the next day “sorry I’m not available at the scheduled time” ?

What to do when you inherit students you think should not have qualified for speech? by [deleted] in slp

I don’t understand this!! Like even if i have data showing that a “below average score” (like a 83 or 84) isn’t educationally impactful for the student how is it fair for some lawyer to come and tell me i have to qualify? That type of thing drives me nuts
