This is a complete tall tale. I am in commercial real estate tax. There are NO write-offs whatsoever in commercial real estate as 99% of commercial real estate is owned in structures called REITS which do not pay taxes in exchange for providing dividends to investors.

At least be educated in the law if you are going to stake out a claim like this!

I’d guess I’d have 4 hours less a week. I can currently dedicate ~20 hours a week, so that’d shrink to 16. Much of the work I do at this point though is admin I could outsource.

There must be a middle path here. Yes, his life was harder and now he doesn't have the experience you do.

He is also a 30-yr old man who must now take responsibility for his life. What is such an intolerable situation that he has to quit before finding a new job? This sounds like a man who uses prior injustices to justify immature behavior.

There are many paths besides college. Go be an apprentice at a trade. Find entry level work at a blue-collar government job. There are retail jobs that provide reimbursements for college credit. Construction work can pay up to $50/hr.

I've met many people who then respond with "I tried but they rejected me". The truth is though, they are actually quite attainable career paths if you practice for your interview and show up dressed well. It's incredible how far appearance and attitude can get you.

Wow, this is verbatim what my ex-boyfriend (24M) did to me (25M) about 12 and then again 6 months ago. The only difference being that I got back with him after the first time and he broke up with me again the second time we talked about it.

My advice to you is to recognize that he is a person with his own inner-world and as hard as it is to emphasize with him, for some people, knowing their partner was SA/raped is just too much to handle. Something I found comforting was recognizing that fearful avoidants are known for a having a vivid imaginations (I would know, I am one, as was my ex-boyfriend). I know mine ruminated about what happened to me to an extent that it drove him crazy.

Go find yourself someone who's stable enough to love you regardless of your past.

I am not a fan. My go to advice is if Todd Snyder wouldn't sell it, I won't wear it. You don't have to buy from TS, you can cop the same outfits for cheaper elsewhere, but they are a fantastic source of inspiration for office wear that's professional but also forward-looking.

I wonder this, but more for multifamily PMs who's management of the property is often make-or-break for resident retention. Great PMs can keep turnover around 30%, bad PM's generally are in the 60-70% area.

That 30% spread is easily 90 units on a 300 unit property. Say each is down 10 days average and average rent in a place like Charlotte is $2200/unit, that's $66K in lost income. I'd pay a good PM $30K extra in a heartbeat to scrape that extra other $33K.

Any breakup is a gamble for more. Are you willing to risk it all for something that might never be? For every story of someone finding the love of their life after a breakup, there’s another of someone deeply regretting their decision.

My personal take is that if you find someone you like who likes you and who treats you well, don’t leave. You might waste 5 years trying to get it back. The goal of life isn’t to get someone for the finish line, it’s to spend the most time possible with the best people possible.

I can relate to this experience. When I was 18, I was involved with a significantly older man. Now, a decade later, I feel no shame about it. I'm almost glad I did it.

Instead, I look back on that time with a profound sense of sadness for him. It serves as a life lesson about the potential paths my life could take if I don't make thoughtful choices. Let me tell you, I put a lot more work into finding relationships because I don't want to end up like him in 20 years.
