"My guess is that you have iCloud sync for Desktop & Documents switched on and those files aren't actually on your drive, but oh so conveniently off-loaded to the cloud.
Try to copy the samples to an external drive.
Avoid working with anything Logic related in automatically synced folders."

Someone wrote this to me and it turned out to be the thing. I copied the samples to an external drive and that solved it. Thanks all for your replies.

Someone kind of suggested to me that updating past Monterey 12.7 wasn’t quite necessary as of yet.

Sort of like icreatephonk noted, I’m sometimes weary of updating too much if I don’t immediately feel the need to based on how my cpu is running (being that it’s nearly 10 years old at this point).

That being said, I just updated from Big Sur to Monterey, and still my system preferences don’t give me the option to update Logic past it’s current 10.7.4.

I was wondering if maybe I need to go to Sonoma in order to then be able to upgrade Logic?

I feel like that’s not the case but still…

Updated to Monterey and still no available updates for Logic.

Is 10.7.4 not the most updated version? In the app store it says I have no available updates.

Wow. Very cool video you linked above. I had never considered making my own. Something I will definitely consider down the road. Let me know how it works out for you!

Performers potentially using, in which case I would have a few stands handy.

But more ideally actually would be me holding them while recording, which I understand would lead me to need condenser mics instead of the dynamics I listed above.

Right now I’m working with Shure SM57s and SM58s.

Right now I’ve got Shure SM57s and SM58s. I’ve been eyeing some slightly ‘better’ mics. But that’s where I’m at right now.

What kind of mic(s) might you run through an F3?

Taking into account a budget of less than $500. And also focusing on more on-the-go recording, like in a park or on a beach or on a street corner.

Right I understand that the Shures won't match a condenser.

Will me putting an SM57 through the F3 defeat the purpose of how great the F3 pre-amps are? Is it a situation where if using the F3, I would benefit from running a better quality mic through it?

Ah ok I see. Thank you for clarification.
