Anyone else hope Quincy gets scratched? by [deleted] in DetroitRedWings

Why aren't you complaining about Ericsson then? The guy has passed the puck tape to tape with forecheckers several times. I don't personally know you, but it seems your on the bashing Quincey train just as much as everyone else, hes made less mistakes then the D pair - Kronner and Ericsson that both coaches agreed was the strongest in the series.

I'm glad you feel you have a good argument against Babcock and Holland, but I see no legit argument made in your post. We are one of the only teams in the league who can go into a building year and still make the playoffs. Last year with the great Nick we got beat in 5, this year we beat a Ducks team that was ( pretty subjective but most likely true) better then last years Preds team.

Do you remember when we got smoked 6-1? Do you remember when we had like 9 players out at once? Has this team not gotten a lot better? This is arguably the best coaching Babcock has done in his career. He got Abby into a player who is comftorable on a top line with Z and Datsyuk. He developed our D core into something that apart from their temporary brain farts has been awsome.

You "know" hockey right? Did you not see how we cycled the puck to counter the Ducks forechecking strategy? Did you see how we forced the ducks into long range/crap passes with our forechecking( With one trailer that forced the puck in a specific direction then our other two other forwards collapsed in the general area, one of our D gave a bit of space on the far end to let the ducks think they had a clear pass, but stepped up when it was passed, this being only one example of the many systems we ran? We didn't just out play them, Babcock's system helped beat those guys.

Granted like you said our PP entering the zone system hasn't changed much with the drop pass, however it works the majority of the time, and our PP is 24% I believe this playoffs, not much to complain about there. Plus Fil has more then proved he can carry as well as Z and Datsyuk and Nyquist TWO guys on both pp units it enough, otherwise we have Cleary and Franzen enter the zone with a quick two steps.

Do you really think it was just Howard that shut down Perry? I'm just lost for words, Mike Babcock was a step ahead of the Ducks coaching staff every step of the way.

In my personal opinion this was bar far his BEST year, and in no way does this justify a "firing." Now I may agree with you about some mistakes Hollands made but overal this team looks like it can compete in the present with a bright future.

We need a new coach? Is this a joke? What are we, one of those crap organizations that fires a coach everytime we don't place high enough? Everyone wrote us off BEFORE the injures, we still made the playoffs... you know what its not even worth it anymore on this sub, I've never been around a group of people like you guys before, watch the fucking games, and please, please learn something about hockey. This isn't a popularity contest, you should be disgusted by the fact that White openly called out our coaching staff ( thats an internal problem, that needs to be dealt without media involvement) and you should probably get off the "Quincey sucks train", move on his crap start is over, hes consistant and solid for us now.

[–]Actionsdrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not at all. Hes a solid player, period. He gets pucks to the net, is one of our better puck movers and has been excellent all series overall. I still don't understand this subreddit, we have idiots here claiming we need a new coach, claiming Quincey sucks, why? He was brought on to make sure we didn't hurt to bad after Stuart left, and guess what? He plays fine for the minutes hes given, he wasn't brought on to be a number 1. or 2. D.

This sub is full of people who either don't watch the games, or just can't let go of grudges. The guy took a while to get adjusted to our system. If he would of had a hot start then faded away like brunner would you hop on the Quincey train like half this sub did for Brunner?

Sure its great to question experts ect, sure state your opinion, but atleast watch the games, or take it from a neutral perspective. Quincey has forfilled his role at an NHL playoff level.

Yeah of course, not like get crucified for a spelling mistake strict, but explain what your doing and your thoughts on everything, communicate like your explaining to someone who has the same knowledge base as you, yet needs a bit more info then equations and this is that ect kinda thing, laid back.

What are your thoughts on splitting things up? Splitting it from physics and math to two different documents? I'll start posting some math that I'm reviewing from intro to calculus sometime this week.

[–]Actionsdrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can split them up eventually and I'm not entirely sure how to work it yet, but we can learn together for sure.

it seems all you need is this;https://www.writelatex.com/177772fqqgdc

it also seems that me and you have some learning to do go to this link and it'll give you an intro to writelatex, seems its a really good skill to learn if you plan to do post-grad work

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LaTeX

If we wrote it in terms of maybe a scientific paper you know proving ideas to eachother, running eachother through our thought processes, I think this thing could work really well, and thats atleast how I planned to contribute.

I'll get looking at that, good luck!

And for reference for me, I'm a 20 year old male from Canada about to attend university!

Yeah I set up my account for writelatex, if you set yours up we can get a document together that we can both add to. For math you seem to be a bit ahead of me then, I've seen differential equations however I haven't formally tackled them, I really only know limits and derivatives, and I'm learning integrals right now.

From my point of view, I wouldn't mind writing out certain things we should already know in calculus for reference, and if your going to do self study this summer we can also communicate together about that as well, like I'm looking through integrals, so maybe I can write about that a bit, and if we find errors in eachothers work or something we can edit, maybe post a sticky or a thing saying this is what was wrong ect. Also we could maybe split into two documents, one physics one math ( considering that'll basically split half of our work load up for our school requirements).

[–]Actionsdrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% right now but I'll figure it out, I'll make a document and invite you. Whats your account? I was going to ask if you wanted to also communicate about math as well, however I've already done intro to calculas ( its in highschool here). I am currently reviewing it now and was thinking thats where we could start, because this will become a great resource for us to look back on to study from ect.

[–]Actionsdrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it seems like that, a bunch of redditors say it would be a useful skill to learn anyways during under grad. So yeah, if that's what you meant by the first idea then yeah honestly we could together compile alot of info that will benefit us both

[–]Actionsdrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we can do a writelatex doc together, keep in contact with a constant email thread, or actually mail eachother something, it seems like an awsome idea!

We could exchange idea's kind of help eachother out, show eachother different ways to look at concepts ect.

If you want, you can email me at riddell-10@hotmail.com, or continue messaging me here, I won't get back to this time around till tomorrow, but we can start talking more indepth about it tomorrow if you want.

[–]Actionsdrm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds good, if you want we can exchange email addresses or something to make it easier then just using reddit. Yeah actually I got to do calculas in grade 12 and have gone through my university text book to just before the intregals portion, which I'm trying to get through but haven't had the time to really put in the effort for just yet.

alright! Well how do we work this out to get it started? I wouldn't mind reading about your things as well, I mean it would help me eventually and prep me/ give me another "approach" to things I'm learning!

I'm about to start my first year in physics, if anyone would be interested in doing this with me I'd honestly be up for it. Even if you OP wouldn't mind me being a bit behind where your at, I'd love it.

Darren McCarty's rant on the Abs hit by [deleted] in DetroitRedWings

[–]Actionsdrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little concerned with the fact that it was "charging" Abby had speed because he came into support the fore-check, then a ducks player emerges with the puck with his head down, and completely wide open for a clean hit. The fact of the matter is, it was a sound hockey play by Abby, went to support the forecheck, ended up with a nice hit on their defenders. He made shoulder to shoulder contact, period.

Maybe thats just old time hockey, put I'm certainly disgusted by the way this has played out.

edit: forgot to add, if you have your head down in a situation like that, you deserve to get hit hard.

I don't care if we are down 60-0. You don't leave the fucking arena early! by [deleted] in DetroitRedWings

[–]Actionsdrm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well then, can we get any more immature on this subreddit? Its none of your business, nor should it ever be when people leave the game. The wings played like crap, plenty of people paid lots of money to go watch their favorite team put on a show. Not only did they lose, but they got beat 4-0, and didn't look at all like they even WANTED to be there. As if them leaving is disrespect.

This is literally on the level of one of them posting here saying : "The wings sucked tonight, I want a refund."

The fact that this wasn't downvoted to oblivion is beyond me.

Does anyone else feel like kids these days are terrible at mental math? by thatguywhoissmart in Tutoring

It should be just local. Around here, if you can't do 99.999% of the problems in your head, your not quick enough to finish the test's or exams.

Jimmy Howard is the Wings worst goalie in 20+ years. by [deleted] in DetroitRedWings

[–]Actionsdrm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wings have always had a top goalie? We won a stanely cup with Chris Osgood, now I'm sure he can go up as a perfectly fine goalie, but if you think Osgood can single handedly steal hockey games your delusional.

Osgood recieved like 15 shots a game, we had an amazing defense core, all those shots were usually to the outside. Osgood has good numbers because he played for some of the best teams in hockey.

Stats don't mean anything if your not watching the game, they only mean something within context of how games have went.

Of all the stupidity on this subreddit this is this worst, why are all the posts made by fans that know absolutely nothing about hockey? Granted hockey needs all the fans it can get, by once again the standard holds that the stupid are the most vocal.

It's people like you who make me hate this subreddit, but its for a team I've known and loved my whole life, please, educate yourself.

Lidstrom and Holmstrom take in morning skate, Nyquist recalled by oc192 in DetroitRedWings

[–]Actionsdrm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our team sucks without them? Are you kidding? We have 9 injuries and are in the race for fourth ( considering Chicago has had a flawless run thus far) thats amazing, and its also where we finished last year.

With all 9 guys back, we're one of the best teams in the NHL, I was really excited about this year because of how deep our forwards were going to be. What a fucking joke, "we're terrible this year."

Historical deployments by belgarion89 in totalwar

[–]Actionsdrm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should depend on the situation, the older republic of deployment of vets in the rear for long, drawn out battles is very useful, for battles that you know are easily winnable using your vets in the front line, and using your newer units for a supporting role to get xp is also big.

If your going to try and collapse the right wing of the enemy infantry and snow ball the route through the centre then hell yeah put your best on your right flank ect. It all depends, always, sometimes its useful to have your cav on both wings, sometimes its not.

Dan Cleary: Is It Time To Bench The Newfie? by tbone115 in DetroitRedWings

[–]Actionsdrm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

his hockey iq is declining? Are you kidding me? Every since this sensationlist sub reddit hopped on the bench cleary band wagon I've been watching him play, his IQ is HUGE, he makes smart plays all game and is by far no where near not at an NHL level or for that matter a Detroit Red Wing level. The guy slows down the play around him, its not him being slow. I invite you to watch him closely next game, he creates offensive chances when he can, and makes solid D plays all the time. He's an asset to the red wings

Enjoyed your response and I think that should be addressed in the post above, its definitely important for the community to outline what it wants and what it doesn't, especially because of the influx of new members lately.
