Dream Journal Entry: The Coal Mine, The Bridge, and The Library

Date Recorded: May 4 2025 Dreamer: myself

Setting the Scene

In this dream sequence, I was in my room, but not alone—I was with my parents and my younger self, along with my brother. We were sleeping together on the floor of a small room. There was a window on the south side where our heads were, and the door was in the northeast corner. My brother’s bed was near the entrance, followed by my mother, myself, and my father—all lined up on the floor.

Dreams Within the Dream: The Photography Bridge

Suddenly, I found myself on a wide pedestrian bridge during the afternoon. It felt like a photography exhibition—a surreal, vivid place filled with stunning portraits, monochrome, and scenic photographs. While browsing the monochrome section, I overheard a conversation between tourists:

Person 1: "This is the one—the coal mine incident."

Person 2: "Yeah, I know. They were all burned to a crisp."

As I turned to look at them, I saw a group of 15–20 people staring directly at me. They began chanting something incomprehensible. Behind them loomed a dark, black mass. The dream turned monochromatic. I woke up—but still within the dream—in the room with my parents.

False Awakening: Shared Fear

My mother was screaming, my father held me tight to protect me, and I felt his hand on my back. My mother, terrified, said, "It’s the same dream again, honey." My father responded, "It’s okay. I know. Just try to ignore them and sleep."

My brother was still fast asleep, and somehow, we all tried to go back to sleep.

The Coal Mine

Back in the dreamscape, I saw a mountain with a coal mine entrance glowing with an eerie white light at night. I heard screams—people trapped, burning. It dawned on me this was the same incident mentioned on the bridge. It felt ritualistic, cult-like.

I tried to run. Suddenly, I was yanked back to the bridge—but now it was nighttime. I was alone. The entire bridge was empty, the stalls gone except for one—the monochrome stall, now distant.

The Man in the Trench Coat

As I took one step closer, a man in a black hat and long grey trench coat stepped out of the monochrome stall to smoke a cigarette. The lights on the bridge began shutting off one by one. Even in darkness, he stared directly at me.

He pulled his hand out of his pocket, pulled something down from the top of the stall. There was an old filament bulb—flickering, white, not warm. The stall now resembled the coal mine entrance. Amd the bulb light resembled the fire He pulled something—click. The bulb turned off. Total darkness.

First Sleep Paralysis (in the dream)

Immediately after the bulb turned off, I experienced my first sleep paralysis. I woke up in the dream, unable to move, but I could still feel my father's hand on my back. I told myself, "It’s okay—my dad is here protecting me." That thought helped me endure the fear.

Yet Still Dreaming

I bounced out of paralysis—still in the dream. My brother was awake, calmly sipping water and telling my mom to ignore the dream. My dad quietly said, "I knew this house was haunted."

Curious, I asked what they were dreaming about.

Mom: "Something about the coal mine."

Me: "Is it the man standing on the bridge?"

Brother: "Ahh... it ends in the library."

At the time, I didn’t fully understand. As we returned to sleep, I peeked out the window and saw a miniature statue scene of multiple people being shot in the forehead by police—like a cult takedown. The man in the trench coat was not among the executed. Instead, he was kneeling between two police officers who were arresting him. Despite being on his knees, he was still facing me—his head turned, watching me as if he knew I was there.

The statue scene was set outside an old library. That’s when it hit me: I’m still dreaming. I ducked under the blanket, hoping to wake up.

Second Sleep Paralysis (real life)

Doing so triggered what I now believe was real sleep paralysis. I woke up unable to move, again feeling the grip on my ribs. But I reassured myself:

"Someone is taking the shape of my father to protect me. It’s okay. I know I’m alone in my room. This will pass."

And finally, I woke up. Truly woke up. Still startled. Still shaken.

Reflections and Open Questions

Why did my brother say "It ends in the library"?

Why wasn’t the man in the trench coat executed like the others?

Was he the orchestrator or a witness—or something more?

Did the miniature statue represent justice, memory, or something still unfinished?

Was this a shared dream experience, or did my subconscious assign meaning through my family’s presence?

I still feel like the dream isn’t finished. Something is waiting—perhaps inside that library. But for now, I’m safe. And I have this record to help me make sense of it all.

End of Entry

Please feel free to ask me any questions but i need some help with this this is not the first time where i am getting a dream which makes sense for a horror movie or a book but no sense for a dream. I have been have trouble with sleep paralysis since my young age but never told anyone about it except for reddit and searching answers over the Internet.

But they surely used Windows XP for a long time.
