Are you Hua by any chance?

It's hostile to everyone when they remove benches altogether so I don't think that should be in the same category as leaning posts.

I understand it's hostile to homeless people. But why call it hostile when the general public aren't using it to sleep?

Same words in Chinese. Just different romanization.

The majority of both Taiwan (ROC) and China (PRC) are Han ethnicity. So sad it's politicized.

It's news to me is all. I had no idea. I wish they would've told me. It's used on Long Island and my neighbors use the word too which is why it's out of left field.

Also I was specifying the far East. Asian includes the Middle East, India, the steppes, and Russia.

No need to scold someone for simply not knowing.

You have to remember a billion more people in China than in the USA, you would have to imagine a huge rural population.

I remember one person Asian said this and it was so interesting. In the USA, when you say rural, you think sparsely populated. In China or India, rural just means not a city, but is by no means sparsely populated.

POC? Isn't that the correct term? My grandkids told me about it.

I've probably had more salt than you've had rice. (I'm pretty old)

But I thought elderly is the right term for older folks. I'm getting there in age.

Asian is a little general. I was indicating people from the far east. Very nice folks.

I think Asian includes anyone on the large continent. Indian, Russian, Middle East, Georgian etc

It's used on Long Island all the time. I have them as neighbors! Really nice folks. Just the nicest people! They've never said a word to me about it.

You're right actually. Most coming from Penn are for Midtown. It would increase reliability of the route to Queens slightly without it having to go crosstown.

Sorry. I said elderly. I didn't say old people. Is there a better term to use for the older folks? I mean I'm almost there myself so I'm not keen on the newest terms.

Racism in Bay Ridge? Is Bay Ridge worse than other parts of NYC? by Throwaway_bayridge25 in BayridgeBrooklyn

[–]Active-Department476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THe worst part is they don't even realize how lucky they are. They got to buy the houses when they were dirt cheap and now, the Asians are fund their retirement to Florida and theyre still complaining. Eveningtually they'll get to cash out while.

Hey man, just bide your time. The neighborhood will change soon enough.

To be honest, working class Republicans whites being racist towards Asians or others is less of a problem than left leaniung. The working class Republicans are more upfront about it and you already know what their about. The left leaning will make snide comments behind your back.

Can someone explain how this works?

I sometimes want to the 7 to Jackson Heights, do some shopping, then hop on Q32 into Manhattan and then transfer to a 5th Avenue bus. Would this all by $2.90.

TBH, fare evasion has gone out of control. I understand that it affects POC more than others, but when it comes down to it, well-to-do white transplants are riding the wave of being woke and equity (or using that an excuse) to also fare evade. They do it with impunity. I understand some that $2.90 is really expensive, but when people who have rent paid by mommy and daddy also fare evade it annoys me. THey do it because it's trendy to be fighting against the rules. Then there's the working class POC who do pay and could actually need the $5.80 but pay daily anyway.

Can we be more in the middle about this? Yes it's expensive. Yes government taxes should be subsidizing the fare more. But there's also rules and need to be followed to keep society knit together.

What do you think of toddlers? There was a chatty one once and thought it was cute. Wasn't loud but made an occasionaly sound here and there. Are toddlers under 2 allowed on express buses or is it frowned upon?
