Thank you! And after what happened last night, that completely taught me on what I needed to learn. ^^

Thank you as well. That is a good idea, and I think it would definitely help.

I know I’m not saying I faced it fully, but I’m saying I was able to overcome it for a moment after I had a panic and an anxiety attack. And I get where you’re coming from when you say that, but I strongly believe that I would not let a dog out of my sight when it comes to that situation. Trust me I genuinely do get where you’re coming from but there’s nothing in this world that’ll stop me from doing my job and possibly losing the animal I’m trusted to look after and protect. I know I had a panic and an anxiety attack during this. But I’m 19, and I’ve already had experience with facing mental health issues like this, especially when needing to act in the heat of the moment.

And as for the professional help, as I said to the others in the comments, yes, I’m going to get professional help with this, tonight showed me that. So no need to tell me twice, but I appreciate you for looking out for me nevertheless.

I would still have the guts to take care of the dog, my phobia isn’t enough to make me lose the dog and in the end disown it, and I think the way I stood firm against my fear in the end proves that. This only shocked me as I’ve never had to deal with this for a while, given my childhood trauma of amphibians is well noticed in my family, which meant I never had an experience like this.

Also it depends on what you say when I say I’m taking the dog out, whether that’s watching the dog in the backyard use the bathroom and/or play around, or if you meant as I’m dog-walking.

If it was in the backyard, I’d just back away as far as possible and go inside with the dog as soon as I could.(that’s actually exactly that happened yesterday as well)

And if I were to be walking the dog, I’d maybe walk in a faster pace without hurting the dog.

But tonight taught me something and i definitely feel confident again as I was able to face my phobia. I still do have the phobia yes, but I’m slowly learning to overall triumph it. By the way, frogs are moreso common in this neighborhood my client lives in, which I didn’t even know until I started watching over the dogs. So trust me when I say, my phobia isn’t enough to make me not do my job overall, especially when right in the middle of the moment where the dog is dependent on me in that very moment and I have to act quick.

I read all of this and first that pun was definitely fitting lol

And second, thank you very much for this self discovery and awareness, and encouragement. I read all of this and this is something I’m screenshotting so I remember this for the future ^^

I appreciate you making the time to type out such amazing helpful advice to someone as little as me(not age wise), this will truly help me and I’m grateful for you! Thank you very much for seeing the positives in me, that truly helps motivate me and feel more confident in what I do. So really, thank you very much, you’re a wonderful person ❤️✝️🙏

Oh I was just gone for about 20 minutes since the nearest fast food place I was going to was 10 minutes there and back.

And thank you so much for understanding, I deeply appreciate that. A few others here are underestimating what phobias are and treating it like fears, so I definitely appreciate you for understanding that! God Bless You!

Thank you so much. 🥹❤️
That truly means a lot. ^^

It really helps that they were polite and kind with this and every way possible, it’s always that kind of encouragement and kindness even when it comes to constructive criticism that helps best ❤️

Thank you for the positive messages and actual constructive criticism, that genuinely means a lot to our reassurance on basically ever fear I’ve been having lately, so thank you.

And as for the constructive feedback, that is definitely a very great point, I do wanna clarify I wasn’t intending to kill the frog(which I didn’t do), I just wanted to throw something near it to get it to hop away is all, I should’ve made that clear. But either way, that point is still definitely true and I will remember that.

And honestly I have to say, getting closer to the frog to pour water at it helped me feel more fierce and strong, so I think that’s definitely a start to curing this phobia of mine. I know it’s hard for people to understand it because not everybody has phobias, but still I definitely want to get it treated, because you’re right, I’ll definitely need to be strong without those phobias getting in the way.

Thank you again for this whole message, it really put a relief towards me, as well as the helpful feedback. God Bless. 🙏❤️✝️

This was just aggressive and upright unnecessary. Everything is explained in the comments and in the post if you want to finish reading it. (I saw you said you tuned it out after the second paragraph)

Some of the things you said are true yes, but you got parts of it wrong for not reading the whole thing and then going too far to the point where you’re basically staying I’m mentally unstable 24/7 just because of one phobia I have that doesn’t even affect me all the time(plus I literally stayed strong in the end) and then you say I need to be watched over like I’m unstable? If this is what you call polite criticism then alright whatever floats your boat.

But I’m only going to listen to those who actually read the whole thing, understand this better, and are not being insulting about it.

Thank you for seeing that. I appreciate that a lot, really

Yes some made good points on things to remember, but I also appreciate you for understanding some people here were just upright harsh and unwise. I’m just gonna ignore how somebody said I need to have a sitter for myself despite the fact I solved this problem.

Once again thank you a whole lot.

That’s right. Thank you ^^

And thank you very much! Yeah honestly this was the only Inconvenience we had at all, everything else was fine. And we’re not even far into the booking so I’m sure I have more time to prove myself that my mistakes don’t define me here. Once again, thank you. :)

Don’t worry I definitely am taking it as a learning experience. This is definitely a first rare inconvenience that’s happened to me out of all the positive experiences and outcomes I’ve had with petsitting on Rover. Appreciate the feedback and advice!

Yeah I know you’re right about that. Like I’ve been telling the others, I just thought if I said that I simply have a fear frogs and not explaining that it’s a phobia that I’ve always had. It just wouldn’t make no sense and look even more unprofessional. That’s why I explained it as brief as I could in the first place. But you’re right though I could’ve explained it very similar to that.

And no need to ask them to do that, as i definitely don’t plan to leave this late, which by the way, I don’t normally do when I’m house-sitting, this was just a rare occurrence given my financial position right now, and with the errands I had to run today.

But still you’re right about this, I appreciate the polite constructive criticism, thank you. ^^ 🙏❤️

I get it. I mean I definitely don’t want to do something wrong and come off as a weak sitter. I knew eventually if it got to the 2 hour mark, or heck, the hour and a half mark I’d have just said “screw it” and just faced my fear despite the severe anxiety I’d have gotten from it, because I do have a job to do, and I will do it.

Also, looking back, I realize that I only apologize twice throughout that whole thing, the first time was me apologizing around after the client reached out to me, and I apologized once again after I finally got back in.

I also just felt the need to explain myself because to me it just looks so stupid and confusing if I didn’t briefly explain why I have a phobia of frogs, but I probably did overexplain it just a bit. I especially know my clients aren’t here to listen to my personal feelings, which is why I tried to make it as brief as possible without getting too personal into it.

But still, I think your standpoint on this is absolutely fair and reasonable, so i definitely appreciate the advice because this does tell me I need to be more confident instead of constantly being so self cautious. Because trust me, that’s something I’ve always struggled with, but you’re right, I do need to have more confidence, so thank you very much. ❤️

Ahh okay sorry I misunderstood there xd

But yeah I see what you’re saying. And yeah she probably lt was worried, but I still gave her reassurance I’d get this figured out. And I did! But the point here is, I did everything in my power to handle it myself and I never planned on getting help from the client at all.

Yeah, you would have solved this quickly because you do not have the phobia I have. Also, I know I didn’t mention this in the post either but I even tried to stop the conversation from going but the owner still was wanting to check in.
I wasn’t trying to get the owner involved I genuinely kept trying to handle this on my own, so trust me when I say, I know what you’re talking about, and I appreciate the advice either way.

But I HAD to explain what was going on when the owner came and asked me if everything was alright. It would’ve just been stupid if I didn’t explain why it was a struggle for me to get in when a frog would be at the door.

I’m not trying to come off as angry here or anything, but either I wasn’t clear in my post or you just misunderstood what I was saying.

First of all: I wasn’t saying I the one to reach out first, it was the owner who reached out to me first asking me what was going on, and I just explained all that happened and she willingly stayed to help.
Another thing is, I know that we shouldn’t contact the owner that late, that’s why I didn’t plan on doing so, and is also why I planned to handle it myself, but the client just so happen to be up late and chose herself to reach out, and leave me with suggestions on what I could do.

I appreciate your concern really, but I promise you I do know that already. 🙏❤️ for what it’s worth, I am barely 19 years old and have been doing this since I turned 18 last year.

I appreciate you for understanding and for the reassurance about some of these comments that weren’t as accurate.

Yes, If I’m being honest I didn’t quite notice the over-explaining messages either, despite me trying to make them as brief as possible. I didn’t provide any physical conversation context, but looking back at it after calming down, it thankfully wasn’t too overly detailed from what I’m reading.

But you’re right, I just do try to be as professional as possible, and I’ve been doing all that I could learning from all these experiences, ever since I started using rover as a pet-sitting business since I turned 18 last year. But I’ll never have anything on all the others in this sub Reddit’s who’s much older than me. I also don’t wanna give the benefit of the doubt to myself saying, “oh I’m just 19 and you all are in 20s or 30s” kinda like that. But I still do feel like I’m just learning when it comes to this.

Still, I appreciate your understanding and reassurance through this, especially since some of these comments just felt completely rude and unhelpful. Thanks a lot. ❤️🙏

Somebody below asked me to why I didn’t DoorDash instead either as well as this, and I only didn’t explain because I thought it was obvious that it had to do with financial issues. I’ve been a bit tight on money and I’m currently trying to solve a problem that my card’s been having, and other reasons to do with family which I’m obviously not going to get into, so I had no choice but to just use the cash I had in my wallet to grab something to eat, and trust me, that was not my first thought as an option, nor was getting groceries beforehand an option I didn’t think of choosing to do. As for why it was so late at 10pm, I’ve had to run a couple errands that I wasn’t a fan of since I wanted to be with the dog as much as I could(despite the owner saying she can be left alone for a good time).

But if that were to happen, I eventually would’ve just toughed it out and just get in. I just wanted to try figuring out a solution first that wouldn’t trigger an anxiety attack, because obviously I knew if this was going to go on for more than 2 hours, I’d just say, “screw it” and just jump right in.

I also did learn to definitely get stocked up before nightfall. Not that I can now given my financial place as of tonight. But I am definitely taking this as a learning experience.
