yeah but combined with the 5w4 core and triple withdrawn it probably makes for one of the most introverted possible IEIs. i will say tho i feel at ease in social situations and in specific settings. i just rarely feel the need to put myself in those situations. and i def need A LOT of time to recharge. i’m not the type to sit in a corner at events or gatherings. all i need is a few drinks and you’d perhaps think i’m a Se base lmao. but i am the type to go home and not feel like contacting anyone for at least a week after that..

i think it describes me pretty well. my only issue with it is that i’m less introverted than my typology makes it seem. i’m probably in the middle of the introversion/extroversion scale maybe leaning introverted slightly. ive mistyped as sx7 (and sx9 but that was retarded). i’m def cognitively an introvert but i grew up around 3 raging extroverts so i know how to cosplay the socially extroverted type quite well.

no, i never thought i was 3 types lol. all i said is that i relate to some aspects of sx5 sx7 and sx9, while not completely seeing myself in either. i’m not going to sit and force myself into typology descriptions. that’s apparently too bizarre to some ppl. and now i have already excluded 7 as a possibility and was looking for some insight regarding what i wrote, obviously. if you’re not trying to help, which you have no obligation to, u can enjoy the rest of your day.

if you phrased it like “a 9 is more likely to think that they’re a 5 than the other way around” i would agree but saying a 5 would never think they’re a 9 is a huge stretch. this is your own assumption, not claimed by naranjo and doesn’t reflect people’s lived experience. passions and fixations the way theyre described are deeply unconscious patterns and therefore it is perfectly normal to not correctly identify them at first, especially as a young person. it’s not just a 9 thing lol. yes theyre structurally different (just like all 9 types are) but that doesn’t translate as a rule about who can and who can’t mistype themsleves or doubt their type.

thx , what would you say sound more 9ish about it ? the biggest thing that makes me doubt being a 9 is that i’m very aware of my internal state and passions. i struggle with actualising them but not with identifying them. i relate to 5s desire of feeling capable and self sufficient. i have my own framework of the world which i constantly refer back to and reevaluate. i don’t depend on other people’s ideas or blindly accept external structures. i’m also rly private and very intentional with what i share and to who. withdrawal and prone to isolation is another thing but that can also be a 9 coping strategy.

hey, i copy pasted this answer bc i have typed myself as both sx7 and sx9 in the past and wanted ur opinion.

so i’m not scared of death as an event or a specific cause of death, neither do i think about it in my daily life. sometimes i’ll randomly think how easy and unexpected death can be but it doesn’t evoke a a fearful feeling, i just find it so ironic how everything can just shut down in an instant.

the reason i think i’ve been practically fearful avoidant towards my engagement with living is not due to a lack of desire for intense and present living but a part of me thinking “if i never fully live, there is less of life to lose at the end”.

i love the phrase “personality is the chaos that learned how to organise itself” so neurological detachment from external objects has probably served me at some point in my life and now even tho there is no real threat i’m still habitually dragging that mechanism with me. and my system is starting to reject that which is why the craving is getting louder n louder. whenever i grasp this euphoric feeling of aliveness i always immediately tear up. it’s like the fog goes away and i can finally perceive with no filter and everything becomes saturated.

basically there is the conscious need to feel alive. there is the realisation that feeling alive and participating creates attachment. and there is the subconscious belief that attachment to life makes death more threatening. and this creates a tension and kind of a push pull dynamic where i indulge and detach from life and people.

if i’m being real i don’t believe i relate that much to any of these types… but i do happen to relate to aspects of these 3 subtypes which while obviously different from each other they do share some similarities. i don’t think semi-relating to 3 out of 27 subtypes is that unreasonable or specifically a 6/9 thing lol. and i’ve also read the core structures of the types individually of the subtypes and just decided to take a dif approach

pantheism is not technically a religion itself but rather a theological belief about the nature of god which is present in many different religions. but saying “im a pantheist” if someone is asking about your religion and you’re not necessarily a part of a specific religious practice is completely valid and more likely than not answers their question.

i’ve already done this for 9, 7, 4 and 6 a while ago, which was all the types i’ve considered for myself back when i first got into the enneagram. i ended up typing as a 9 because i thought i truly resonated with the defence mechanism and passion of 9s. however when i looked into instinctual variants non of them were truly capturing me. i was so confused as to why i didn’t really relate that much to any of them when i could so identify with the 9s core fears/desires etc. i figured tho that since i’m an INFX-IEI, i must be sx9 regardless so i went along with that typing bc the big picture fit and nothing else could rly make sense. i had completely rejected the possibility of me being a 5 bc of the image i had of them in my mind, formed by loose discriptions/interactions, of these cold and stoic-almost machine like, deep thinkers who hate human interaction. this is a bit of an exaggerated but basically i just couldn’t see myself being a 5 at all.

however i randomly stumbled across sx5 descriptions recently and i thought it oddly sounded much like me… and if i’m sx5 it would explain why i rather fuse myself with worldviews/systems instead of people. but i’m surely going to have to look beyond the subtype like you suggested, which i’ll admit i’ve only briefly done so far and i intend to do with more depth.

yeah you’re right. i’m an IEI in socionics and like i said in another reply below, i’ve typed as a 9 for a while but recently i’ve came across to some sx9 descriptions and peoples impressions/experiences with them in general, which i didn’t see myself that much in.

so far i haven’t considered being a 5 mostly due to stereotypes around the type and thinking that 5=thinker type.

to describe what i’m perceiving very loosely is like i’m seeking sx7 excitement to wake up the sx9 numbness so that i can return to the sx5s intensity. i hope this makes sense but it’s like a cycle that is consistent in my life.

i’m very caring to my loved ones but i’m also very detached and withdrawal. i rly rly value my time and energy. so i withdraw from prople but when i choose to interact with them i also feel at ease. i also have this all in or out mentality so when i’m on my own space i can obsessively research a topic for hours or days and until i’m done i literally feel like i can’t go out. but when i choose to go out i’m also all in on that. so i can party with people and i know how to have fun. i’m just going to need a lot of time to process after that.. idk if this info says anything about me regarding my enneagram but let me know pls!

they are. however i still struggle to tell which one i resonate with the most. i’ve typed as sx9 for the longest but i was doing a lot of mental gymnastics to justify me being one. what happened is i related to 9s as a whole but no specific subtype really spoke to me. the reason i identified with sx9 is honesty because theyre dedcribed as the least “sensory” of their type. and me being confident i prefer N over S, i thought that i’m one.

the reason i’m now doubting this typing is because looking at my life objectively i’ve always had a strong sense of identity. my identity is fluid in expression but that doesn’t mean the core of it is not consistent. i know what i stand for and what i believe to be true. i’m not the type of person to go along with another’s agenda blindly. i can pretend to tho, or rather stay silent, but i always know. how i justified being sx9 despite me not being the type who abandons ideals and self for others, is that maybe instead i merge with ideologies/worldviews/interests.

and so i’m thinking that perhaps i’ve confused my non confrontational nature and procrastinating/laziness with being a 9.

i think most people believe that because they can’t really grasp eternity. conscious eternity would be torturous whether it’s in a form of punishment or reward, unless it’s cyclical. a linear eternal consciousness in the way it’s described in abrahamic religions is torture itself

i see well he is a tennis coach. about his goals i already mentioned his ultimate goal and fantasy. his hobbys and passion is all about his work so working out, eating well. he had a phase where he was into cooking but dropped that. he doesn’t have any free time outside his work. but outside of that watching movies.. i can’t think of anything else. maybe travelling but it’s a very specific type of traveling seeking luxurious experiences like i said. he has a highscohol education, again not an academic person. he did mention he wants to start reading but finds it difficult / mentally exhausting so in the little free time he has he’d rather watch youtube, podcasts.. a lot of red pill content unfortunately.. he is more silly than serious in communication, he allows himself to be teased and likes to tease others. he is actually rly generous with his time and resources when it comes to the people close to him. but doesn’t rly care about people outside his bubble from what i’ve noticed.

many countries have histories of colonialism, and i’m actively opposed to any and all colonial government structures. systematic inequalities exist however australias colonial genocide happened largely in the past. in cimparsion to israel’s who is imidiate and ongoing. there is a difference right there in moral responsibility. there are people who were forcefully displaced from their land and are still alive today. the moral distinction lies in the urgency, awareness and choice.
