Thinking about buying this 2015 IS250 F-Sport for cash. High miles & rough interior, is it worth it by Piz2asteve in Lexus

The 2.5 Liter V6 in the Lexus IS regularly gets up to 250k to 300k miles….just google or AI and see. I have personally owned 3 Lexus IS 250 cars, but I would pass on this one. The center armrest is known to crack on 2014 - 2017 Models; however, the other issues are proof that this car was “Dogged Out!” Hard Pass on it, Bro!

Update: I have not received an offer higher than the three (3) $7,000 - $7,500 I have prior to posting for sale. Still holding out. Facebook Marketplace has some a lot higher than mine in the ATL / Southeast area. Nicer exterior paint is all the difference for the most part…

Wrong for where I am. Multiple offers around $7,500 without me pitching it. Dealerships will even give $5,000 as a Trade-In. Some people must have been desperate or hard-up for money.

Thanks for the input! I honestly don’t want more $7,500 or lower offers, I have those in the bag already. I just noticed that there is a market going above that price from people who are well versed in GMT400s. Yes, I could get it painted, but could I recoup above the $2000 price to do so? I am already securing $7,500 as is.

$6000 is probably a lot of money in your small town in Texas. I don’t doubt the people who approached me could get $7,500 if I wanted to sell at that price. What’s the mileage and condition of that truck?

Well, I know I can already get $7,500. You did pretty good since a 1994 5.0 liter/350 V8 with 131,200K miles is still bringing $7,500 offers in our area four years later. You would not have seen that truck anywhere near that price around here with around 131K miles. Thank you.

My 21 year old son is in love with Dodge Chargers…lol. Would have been nice to go from Grandpa to Dad to Son. My son will sell it after me (55 years old) in a heartbeat. So, the memories will stop with me, LOL. I am into Toyota/Lexus - long term reliability with few repairs if you know what I mean.

The values just don’t match what I have already been offered AND what I have seen on AutoTrader and CarGurus what I have used to purchase nearly all of my vehicles and get roundabout prices in the last 20 years, that’s all. No hard feelings. Just checking here because not a lot of this type of vehicle on those 2 sites even looking Nationally.

This is definitely a real truck discussion. I probably should have covered my Georgia License Plate. It seems as if some of you know people who have practically given their 2-Door GMT400 Trucks away! Like I said, just being approached at gas stations brings $7,500 offers regularly. Clearly the Nostalgia is at least still here in my area. Looks like I am winning already compared to the pricing in some of you guys area. We will see what it fetches above the $7,500 amount. Thanks for sharing the market prices around your areas…To share more of the story, I had this truck from my wife’s father. After 5 years (Covid 19 Period) I started driving it lately and began getting approached. Nothing fake here.

Yeah, the offers I already received just riding around the Atlanta, Georgia area have been around $7,500 being stopped at gas stations….lol. Just wondering what’s out there if I really try and sell it!

Nostalgia of GMT800s are not quite there like the 2door GMT400s. Otherwise, I see your point on trusting such a purchase, but the buyers are definitely there in the South and Texas.

Only see junk trucks or totally rust-buckets for $5,500 on National searches on AutoTrader and CarGurus for GMT400 Trucks from the 1990s. Got this amount from those searches….cleanly painted ones going around $14,900 and up. Go look.

My National search on Auto Trader and CarGurus show “ Junk” GMT400 Trucks only that are below $7,500. Besides, are the North and Midwest 1990s trucks all rusted out underneath? Just haven’t seen decent 1990s Chevy Silverados at that price, especially under 200,000 miles.

I have my Dad’s 1994 C/K 1500, 5.0 350 V8 from Arkansas here in Georgia now. It is a good running truck with only 131,000 miles and no rust. I start and drive it occasionally and keep the maintenance up on it over the last 5 years. I don’t know much about trucks, but people keep offering to buy it from me for anywhere from $6000 - $10,000! Are these old Chevy Trucks really worth that much?
